About the addition

Back in early 1996, the church made a decision to proceed on a renovation/construction project to add a 100 seat balcony to the sanctuary. This new balcony was to relieve the overflow attendance problems as well as provide a vastly improved technical staging area for many productions, such as the Christmas Madrigal & Yuletide Festival. This provided an ideal timeframe to fix the lighting problems that existed due to the growth of these productions, and provide for future needs such as possible television broadcasting of services.

During the summer of 1996, I worked for Art's Electric and developed the church lighting addition wiring to be roughed in and developed over several years. The church board had accepted my proposal and expected the lighting system to be completed along with the sanctuary renovation, which already included a new sound system upgrade. I headed the installation and had the system operational before returning to college. When I returned to Art's Electric in the summer of 1997, I finished some final details and then trained select church volunteers to custom program the lighting system. Since then the system has worked well and is used for Sunday services, youth shows, concerts, weddings, and other church productions & special events.
