Past pages and ... well ... stuff
You might notice that this page has been updated a little, basically instead of just having stuff that I find and think might be useful to include on my site; it also includes a lst of past pages that I've replaced or am no longer updating (phew what a long sentence!). This page is no longer in frames, breakout if you need to.
History...
I'll do this list like a "what's new" section and include links to the old pages.
- 1 Febuary 2004 - updated resume page too.
- 1 Febuary 2004 - updated CV (now in doc and pdf formats (both made with OpenOffice.org of course!)).
- 14 August 2003 - Added a page on my experience with producing CDs from live audio.
- 7 August 2003 - Few minor updates to increase prominence of my Linux pages and clean up a little.
- 8 May 2003 - Well that "not quite LAMP" statement was getting to me ... so following the arrival of a WD 40GB drive I've set up to dual boot Slackware on my HP Pavilion 7880.. I've also re-jigged some of the pages on this site - nothing much though. Following my new Slackware experience this page will probably have some hints and tips for other HP 7880 owners wanting to make the transition .... it won't be easy!
- 1 May 2003 - have added a last modified date to each page via the navigation SSI. Also note that I'm currently mirroring this page at home via pbhj.hopto.org as a way to learn about Apache/PHP/MySQL. Not quite LAMP, but nearly.
- 4 April 2003 - have introduced Client Side Includes
into my site. This is basically the use of .js file with a document.write clause that writes the XHTML to the page at the client side. Thus the .js can be cached by the client and included in multiple pages without having to be fetched from teh server. I've used it for my menu. - 17 Mar 2003 - the Linux page
is largely finished and I have started a Knoppix page giving info about the next distro I'm trying. - XX Feb 2003 - have been working on my Linux page recently. Also am trying to find a colour scheme for the updated pages ... one has to admit that the current colours dont' exactly work together!
- 29 Jan 2003 - I've been working on a page for The Gaer Community Network so haven't done any updates for ages ... finally got round to implementing some CSS pages and also using SSI. The XHTML is still transitional though.
- 27 May 2002 - Further to previous note am now learning to use Gimp a Unix PhotoShop-type program to create transparent 'gifs' only they aren't gifs. There's a patent covering gifs and so I use png which is a near equivalent format, but is free to use (probably GPL). Anyway I'll be adding the following images , ,

- 6 May 2002 - Just a bit of housekeeping, some pages retired including my art page on which the Louvre . Also note that I'm going to try using images like this
to indicate a link that goes to an external site (and so opens in a new window). - 9 Feb 2002 - a bit more CSS to tame the scrollbar colours in IE, see eg - WebSiteTips if you're interested in how it is done.
- 21 Dec 2001 - updates galore going on here, have updated the links from the front page to go to only the pages I'm keeping current, sort of pruning the site. Also changed the about me page to be more up to date and added a link from this to a page about our house. Also a few other "housekeeping" jobs.
- 19 Dec 2001 -- removed some broken links from this "stuff" page.
- 19 Dec 2001 -- Added christmas letter and removed excess guff from the front page, 'bout time for some re-styling, those buttons in the menu are looking rather grim!!
- 13 Jun 2001 -- Added external cascading style sheets to allow me to change the look of my site easily (and expand my knowledge of HTML). Particular use was this page from "The Code Project".
- 16 Jan 2001 -- This page replaces the old stuff page.
- previously -- New front page replaces the old one.
