Nursing - Philosophy

We, the faculty of Branch University School of Nursing, believe in the development and promotion of excellence in professional nursing through a teaching-learning process designed to recognize the unique leaning needs of a diverse student population in an environment that facilitates autonomy, discovery, and scholarship.

We believe that through the continual support in the generation and transmission of nursing knowledge, the highest quality health care for the people of Texas can be obtained. We believe that learning is a life-long process of self-discovery, knowledge development, evaluation, and growth. Learning is the responsibility of both faculty and students, and is enhanced by recognizing individuality and fostering each student’s potential with encouragement and support. The teaching-learning process is reciprocal, interactive, and involves the establishment of setting goals, selecting learning experiences, revising curriculums, and evaluating outcomes. We believe that the teaching-learning process is crucial in the development of professional skills, such as critical-thinking, effective communication, integrity and respect; skills necessary for the implementation of therapeutic nursing care.
