Virus Information

US-CERT

US-CERT

This is a U.S. government site dedicated to computer threats. This site is a colaboration between the old CERT at Carnegie-Mellon and the computer security division of the Department of Homeland Security. They will send you bulletins analyzing developing threats and tell how to protect you computer from harm. If you review their alerts you will see that Apple products are also threatened, contrary to what the MAC adds may say.

Gentle Reminder:

Update your virus programs weekly. Symantec has averaged 2 updates per week this past year. You should have your e-mail program set to show all file extensions. Do not open attachments with multiple file extensions. Subscribe to a virus alert newsletter from Symantec, McAfee, or the US-CERT site.

I also recommend you download and install "Adaware" or "Spybot" and run it at least monthly, more often if you visit many game or music/video download sites. There are more than 90,000 spyware programs out there. Protect your self.
