I have always wanted to make a really comprehensive page on Vietnamese history to enlighten Vietnamese who want to learn more about Viet history as well as Americans who are curious to know something about Viet history.

However, my busy schedule does not permit me to do so. Therefore, I can only put an abridged version of Viet history together, starting from the time the Vietnamese gained independence from China in 938 A.D., after over 1000 years of Chinese colonization.

This page will have all the ruling dynasties and their founders, including their bios, achievements, criticisms, and kudos from me (as a history geek :)) and from a very prominent Vietnamese historian, former Prime Minister Tran Trong Kim*, who wrote the book "Viet Nam Su Luoc" or "An Abridged History of Vietnam".

Most of the facts and information I gather for this page will be from the book mentioned above. I also use other sources of information such as the Internet and newspapers.
