1. | The knowledge of Divine things, may be properly called wisdom, and the knowledge of human affairs may properly receive the name of knowledge. |
2. | Of all things which proceed from a cause, the supreme sage has explained the cause; and he has explained their cessation, too. |
3. | Not-knowing of suffering, the origin of suffering, the termination of suffering, and the way leading to the termination of suffering -- this is called ignorance. |
4. | There are three forms of training. What three? The training in the higher morality, that in the higher thought and that in the higher insight. |
5. | Let your old age be childlike, and your childhood like old age; that is, so that neither may your wisdom be with pride, nor your humility without wisdom. |
6. | From meditation wisdom arises, without meditation wisdom wanes. |
7. | Though one may live a hundred years with no true insight and self-control, yet better, indeed, is a life of one day for a man who meditates in wisdom. |
