a day of boating and sunshine

As you can see, I've loved boating for a long time

Karl shipped out to Korea a couple of weeks after we were married. He was stationed in Camp Casey for 18 months and drove deuce-and-a-half trucks and tank recovery five-ton wreckers.

Even though it was military draft time, he wouldn't have wanted to miss the experience.

Good thing I had snagged him already!

Shipping Out

FYI, this was a tinted b&w picture

Karl in Korea

When Karl returned to the United States, we  moved to Elizabethtown, Kentucky and lived there for six months until his military time at Fort Knox was completed.

After our return to New York, we both worked and saved for our first house, moving into it four years after we were married, and on the "due date" of our first baby, Linda. It was a "fixer-upper" and both our families helped get it ready for us. Even though we moved in on my "due date," Linda waited two more weeks to arrive.

My two best friends Here I am at my baby shower, Karl's mother to the left and my mother on the right. We were all excited at the prospect of a baby in the family. Little did I know that there would be another one a year later! Nothing like making up for lost time!
