July 26, 2006 8:58 PM "Travel broadens the mind." -- Doctor Who Sometimes travel doesn't have to be very far to broaden the mind a bit. For several months Margaret and I have been noticing that the water pressure in our home has been getting lower -- or so we thought. When we went to Africa we noticed that the water pressure in the resorts was significantly higher, and we reveled in the feeling. Back at home, we wished that the water pressure were better so we could enjoy those steamy, good-time showers like we had on vacation. Recently Margaret had the shower in the master bath re-grouted. We had to use the guest bath for a couple of days while the grout set and dried. There we noticed that the water pressure was higher, and we enjoyed those steamy, good-time showers we had hoped for all along. That was the clue for us that maybe the shower head in the master bath, which was about seven years old, might be the true culprit in our water pressure issues. Margaret went out and purchased a new shower head, with a chlorine filter built in. Even though the new shower head had a filter in it, the water flow was excellent! We now enjoy those steamy, good-time showers, and we don't even have that chlorine! It's like living in a resort all the time! Travel broadened our minds and gave us new information. Just as travelling to Africa gave us the clue that something was missing in our water pressure, travelling just 15 feet from the master bath to the guest bath showed us that the problem was not what we originally assumed.

Wednesday, July 05, 2006 9:23:53 PM I am now officially "Yelp Elite." That basically means that I was noticed by the Yelp staff as a compulsive food critic and online social networker. So they sent me an email asking if I was willing to become elite, and of course there was only one correct answer, right? Writing critiques on Yelp is called "Yelping," and I notice that this activity cuts into my blogging. I've split my time lately, but since Yelp shows up more frequently on Google searches than Zagat or CitySearch do, I figure I might as well contribute my share of reviews. Who knows what will happen after Yelp reaches the critical mass for commercial exploitation, but for now it's a fun way to pass the time.
