"Shalom, Haver" - "Farewell, Friend", has become part of the Israeli lexicon ever since it was first utterred by U.S. President Bill Clinton at the graveside of Israel's late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Bumper-stickers bearing this poignant phrase became ubiquitous all over Israel, as an expression of the national sense of shock and loss that cloaked the country in the wake of the tragic assasination. As Israel and the world remember Rabin, brutally murdered two and a half years ago, this link assumes undeniable significance. |
Flight-navigator Ron Arad was shot down over Lebanon more than 11 years ago; since then he has been held in captivity by Islamic fundamentalists. This site contains biographic information on Arad, as well as audio clips and video footage, and aims at maintaining public awareness and keeping the battle for his release alive; in light of renewed and vigorous efforts to secure Arad's release this site is of particular importance. |
