Mrs. Kobbé had a large circle of friends in New York, but since her husband's death she had lived almost entirely in the country. She leaves a daughter, seven sons, and many grandchildren, all of whom, excepting a son and grandson in the army, live in or near this city, with which she ws so clearly identified, and which she saw grow from a provincial town."--New York Times, March 7, 1895. & "The death of William A. Kobbé, which occurred at his residence in this city last evening, is a painful surprise to his many friends, although it occurred in the 80th year of his age. Mr. Kobbé had been known to the New York business world for the last fifty years, first as the official representative here of the Duchy of Nassau, his native place, and later as a merchant.
