Medieval Story With heavy gasps he looked around too see if anyone lurked anywhere and he hid the phial inside a large empty ink well. Unexpectedly, there was a light knock on his chamber door. He wiped with sweat dripping from his wrinkled forehead. " Father are you all right. I heard noises outside the castle." Velour looked through the cracks of the wooden door. She could only see the large outline of her father. "Return to bed my dear. It was probably the warden," he replied in return. Velour started to walk away from the door. Velour, however, did not return to bed. She took a candle and searched the outskirts of the castle. She walked down the stone hedge floors. Her velvet gown slid over the stone stairs. She then heard voices outside of the castle. She took her dark hooded cloak and looked outside the window. Sudden hushed breaths breathed down her back. She quickly turned around. It was Sygen, the castle’s keeper. "Looking for something milady?", he asked in a fatuous grin. She sighed exasperated and relieved at the same time. "No Sygen nothing at all. I just thought I heard a noise outside the castle." Velour answered back at his intimidating question. "Why I didn’t hear anything." He answered plainly with large eyes. "Well you were not asked were you?" He subjectively bowed and ran off. Sygen’s quirky personality often seemed conspicuous and were the object of suspicion. He was a rather short fellow with large brown eyes. She only questioned her father’s generosity in giving the pygmy a place in the King’s court. |
