Frequently Asked QuestionsI still don't know how to move in?!
It has been a week since I applied for my address on geocities and I still haven't received my password!
I still don't know how to move in?!The moving in process is not a complicated one, all it basically involves is you uploading your page onto the geocities server and it's done. To start off, make your homepage by either using Netscape Composer, Microsoft Front Page or whatever new software is available to you. Bear in mind that your front page must always be named as ' index.html '. Naming it to another name would result in viewers not being able to see your front page at all.
Once you have prepared your index.html page and is ready to upload it, go to the File Manager. Type in your Login Name and Password and wait until it loads the next page. Seeing that this might be your first time here, don't be alarmed when you see an index.html file already in your web server space. This is the default index page which geocities makes when you applied for the address. If you want to see how it looks like, just go to your homepage URL and you will see. All it says is the time you applied for the address and that you haven't moved in yet.
To upload, scroll down to the heading that says EZ File Upload. You should be able to see 5 text fields and a BROWSE button next to it. Located below should be the ' Upload File ' button and the ' Clear ' button. Press on the BROWSE button and locate the html file/s that you had created and press OK after that. You should now see the path on your hard drive where your html file is on the text field. If you have more than one file, just use the following the text fields below.
When you are ready, press on the ' Upload File ' button and wait patiently for the next page to load. Bear in mind this might take awhile depending on the size of your file. The bigger the files, the longer it takes. Once the next page is loaded and you see the recently uploaded files on your screen, this means that your moving in process is successful.
It has been a week since I applied for my address on geocities and I still haven't received my password! If this applies to you than waiting any longer would bring you no results. The password that is assigned to you should have been emailed to you immediately after you signed up for your address. The longest it would take to reach you would probably be a day but even than, it seldom happens.
To remedy the situation, please fill out the form located here. Provide as much information as you can and you should be getting your assigned password within the next few days.
