Tale #21
I worked at both KTUL and KOTV. Often got to take film to the Turnpike gate for OKC - later when I worked in OKC did it from that end. In my 5 years in Tulsa - we never lost a film sending stories via friendly drivers. We were told NO out of state drivers; ask if folks were driving straight thru; and get that license number so someone on the opposite end might be waiting and see the "courier car" arrive at the Turnpike gate. Though a lot of times the attendents would just sit on the film for us. I do remember one time in OKC getting tape from (Channel) 2 by mistake - it looked better and we called 2 to see if we could air it. We did with a 2 disclaimer cg but after making a dub - before air time - took it down Brittain Road to 4. |
Don Lundy - also from 8 - now GM at KERO in Bakersfield - his Dad was a Greyhound Bus driver and several times interns or others handed film to him. They learned as a common carrier - he would be glad to take a package - for a price for pick-up at the OKC bus station package express... |
