[The Tick vs. The Tick][Armless but Not Harmless]
[Heroes]
"The Tick Vs. The Tick"
The Summary:
The Tick, Arthur, Die Fledermaus and Sewer Urchin Drive on down to the Comet Club, an exclusive
club for Superheroes. Along the way they pass a crazy man in a Volkswagon Beetle (The Evil
Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight, of course!) At the club, Doorman, who has the power
to root out those who don't belong, sends Arthur to the sidekick's lounge, located in a shed
behind the club. Meanwhile, the Tick learns that another guy claiming to be "The Tick", named
Barry, usually comes to the club. Anyway, Arthur discovers the Evil Midnight Bomber's plan to
destroy the club while the Tick kicks Barry (the other Tick) inside out, and then he narrowly
stops the EMBWBaM's plan, thanks to Arthur's help.
The Cast:
THE GOOD: The Tick, Arthur, Die Fledermaus, Sewer Urchin, Bigshot
THE BAD: The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight! (He has so many
scenes in this episode that I'm not going to bother to highlight them.)
THE UGLY: Barry (The "Tick"), Doorman.
THE EXTRAS/CAMEOS: A bunch of sidekicks, Fishboy (Prince of Atlantis), Mighty Agrippa (Roman God of the Aqueducts),
American Maid, some Valkyrie woman whose name I couldn't hear, and the superheroine
with the poodle gun.
The Story:
ACT 1 - SCENE 1
Scene: Arthur, Tick, Die Fledermaus, and Sewer Urchin are all in Dot's car, trying to merge
on the freeway.
Die Fledermaus keeps on giving Arthur orders on how to merge, and the Tick is starting to get
fired up. He finally snaps, yelling, "GO GO GO!" while Die Fledermaus yells, "WAIT
WAIT WAIT!". Arthur floors it, speeding out into the traffic while everyone in the
car screams.
Sewer Urchin and Die Fledermaus are fighting in the back, and Die Fledermaus complains,
"You're stinking on purpose, aren't you?" They start to hit each other, and
Arthur has to warn them that if they don't calm down, he'll pull over and they
can just "wait". He pulls ahead of the car next to him, which turns out to be
The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight's Volkswagon Beetle.
The Bomber starts ranting about "Him". ("So he says to me, 'You wanna be a BAD guy?...'").
ACT 1 - SCENE 2
Outside the Comet Club. Our heroes pull into the parking lot.
Die Fledermaus reads a sign, saying, "Hey! 'Super Heroes Welcome'! There's something
you don't see every day!"
The boys all line up to get into the club, but Doorman, a hero with special Doorman
powers, recognizes Arthur as a sidekick, and sends him to the Sidekicks' Lounge.
Meanwhile, the others go into the club; Maus goes ogg to hit on some superheroines, while
The Tick and Sewer Urchin mingle.
Back outside, Arthur finds the Sidekick lounge, a shack behind the club. "What?!"
Inside the Comet Club, Tick meets up with Bigshot (his "favourite emotionally imbalanced,
gun-toting vigilante!") Bigshot introduces some friends to The Tick, and tells
them who he is. That worries the regulars, and they start to talk about Barry,
hoping he won't show up.
ACT 1 - SCENE 3
Barry, riding on a flaming chopper, pulling up next to TEMBWBAM.
The Bomber is talking about having style, but he's got to get a gimmick.
High explosives!
Barry passes the EMB, getting fire all over his windshield in the process. The Evil Bomber
yells, "Yeah? Keep playing with fire, superpants! You don't know how much
fire you're playing with!" as he turns on the windshield wipers.
ACT 1 - SCENE 4
Inside the Sidekick lounge. We see a caped dog, an ape, and a Robin-like teen
sidekick.
The ape and the dog are talking about the trials of being sidekicks, while the kid
reads a book called, "WRESTLE WRESTLE WRESTLE!"
Back inside the Comet Club, a Poodle Girl shows up, toting a bazooka labelled,
"Poodle gun". Die Fledermaus asks, "Hey sweetheart, whatcha got in
the Poodle gun? Anything for me?" She fires the gun and a bunch of
rabid poodles attack him. He aims for someone else, starting with
the exact same pick-up line, only to realize it's American Maid he's
flirting with. They begin to argue, while we go back to the Tick
and Bigshot.
Bigshot and his friends are explaining to the Tick that Barry is a wannabe Superhero,
but he's only in it for the power and attention. His brother-in-law owns the
Comet Club, so Barry comes in and makes trouble any time he wants. Fishboy
adds, "It's past 10:30, so he probably won't show up tonight." With that
the door bursts open, and Fishboy whispers, "That's Barry." to the Tick.
Barry yells, "Where's the jerk who calls himself the Tick?"
The Tick replies, "I am that jerk! Who wants to know?"
"You stole my superhero name, parasite!" Barry cries, "I am THE TICK!"
ACT 2 - SCENE 1
Still in the Comet Club, Barry and The Tick are arguing while the crowd
watches.
Barry yells, "I am the one and only Tick! Prepare to succumb to an irresistible force!"
The Tick says, "Yeah, well don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!"
They begin to fight. The Tick is stronger, but Barry has a kinetic energy
generator in his shield, with superheated crushing power!
ACT 2 - SCENE 2
Back in the Sidekick lounge, things start to heat up.
The Caped Dog and the ape are starting to get angry, because their lives suck.
The ape wants to go back to the jungles of Borneo, and he begins to
rant about the cost of food in the city, scaring Arthur.
Just outside, The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight is pulling up in
his car. He continues to reveal details of his plan to blow up the
Comet Club.
ACT 2 - SCENE 3
Back inside the Comet Club, Bigshot tries to break up the fight.
Bigshot squeezes between the two adversaries, telling them to, "Put it in
the Happy Box!" He continues to try and work out their differences,
but has some trouble with pent-up anger.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom (which is shared by the club and the sidekick lounge),
we find Arthur grumbling to himself. He looks at the entrance to the club,
and wonders if he should sneak in, when the EMBWBAM shows up. Arthur
confronts him, and the Bomber quickly reveals his entire plan, then
chucks a smoke bomb at Arthur, and runs.
Inside the club, we see the bathroom door open, with smoke pouring out. The Bomber
steps out and starts to talk to himself as he sets about his work.
Bigshot is trying to negotiate a "compromise" between the two Ticks. Barry goes
to therapy with bigshot, and give up his name. The Tick, well, he gets
to be The Tick.
Barry smacks Bigshot with his shield, and begins to rumble with The Tick.
The Bomber is running around, putting bombs everywhere and mumbling
"Excuse me, excuse me..."
Arthur gets out of the bathroom, and Doorman's super sense begins "ringing".
As Arthur is telling Sewer Urchin about EMB, Doorman grabs him. Arthur
cries for Urchin's help.
The Tick and Barry are still fighting, and Barry starts to crush The Tick as The
Evil Midnight Bomber walks past, putting a bomb on Tick's chest.
ACT 3 - SCENE 1
A panning view of the Comet Club, bombs are everywhere.
The Bomber pops out from behind a plant, and plants a bomb on the TV screen.
Die Fledermaus is hitting on the Valkyrie, while they watch the fight.
Barry grunts, "Say Uncle!" as he squishes The Tick against the wall.
"Uncle!" The Tick replies.
Barry, frustrated, says, "No, I mean renounce your name and call me The Tick!"
The Tick groans, "You...are...Barry Barry Barry Barry Barry Barry Barry Barry
Barry Barry Barry Barry...BARRY!"
Arthur is trying to convince Doorman that there really is someone trying to
blow up the Comet Club. Doorman asks, "Oh yeah, and who would that
be?"
Arthur replies, "He calls himself, "The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at
Midnight."
"YEAH BABY!" chimes in The Bomber.
"Oh sure, that sounds real." says Doorman, as he gets tackled by
Sewer Urchin.
Now we go back to The Tick, who is saying, "Barry Barry Barry Barry Barry Barry!"
and continues to get crushed. He now says to himself, "Got to get
it together...can't lose my name. It's on all my stationary!"
On a table surrounded by bombs, The Evil Midnight Bomber cackles,
"Hahahahahaha! Sixty seconds to midnight! Sixty seconds to
nowhere, baby!"
Sewer Urchin, wrestling with Doorman, says, "Don't hurt him, he's definitely
our ride home."
Doorman argues that it's club policy, so Urchin starts to stink. The smell
knocks Doorman out, and Arthur goes to the Tick.
At the same time, The Tick gets Barry's shield, and says, "I think you'd
better get a new name, mister." Arthur comes up to him and tells
him about the bombs.
As the Evil Midnight Bomber savours his victory, Agrippa says to Fishboy,
"There's going to be a heck of a line at the cape check!" The
Tick collects all the bombs, and then tosses them out behind the
club, almost forgetting the one attached to his chest. He adds
it to the rest, which are attached to the sidekicks' lounge.
The bombs blow, and the Robin-like kid gets up and says, "That's it,
I quit!"
ACT 3 - SCENE 2
Tick and Arthur return to the club, to applause and cheers.
As The Tick is accepting the praise of the other superheroes, Barry tackles
him.
Arthur notices The Bomber escaping, and pursues him. He manages to tackle
The Bomber, foiling his escape.
Back inside, The Ticks circle one another, and then as Barry attacks,
The Tick grabs him and tosses him straight through the roof.
Barry lands outside on the pavement and moans, "OK, I'll be
Barry and you be The Tick!"
The Tick, carrying a squirmy Evil Midnight Bomber, says, "Well, all this
and a villain too!"
EPILOGUE
The guys are driving home in Dot's car.
Arthur yells at Die Fledermaus and Sewer Urchin, "Guys! I'm not going
to warn you again!"
Now it's time for The Tick to give his speech, "What's in a name, anyway?
If I were called Bob or Jack or Vinnie, or 'a piece of fruit', would
I be any less a hero? And if Barry were called Rupert or Max or
Rainbow, would he be any less a jerk? I don't think so. Because
a name is a rose, and it only smells as sweet as you are!"
Sewer Urchin: "Are we home yet? Ow!"
Die Fledermaus: "Ow yourself!"
SU: "Ow yourself!"
DM: "Hey, quit copying me!"
SU: "Quit copying me!"
DM: "I know you are but what am I?"
SU: "I know you are but what am I?"
DM: "Stop it!"
SU: "Stop it!"
DM: "I was saying it first..."
The boys continue to fight as the car drives off into the distance...
