Welcome to my tropical pages
A lighthouse near and dear to me is the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse where I volunteer as a guide every Wednesday and for events hosted by the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Society. We are normally visited by employees of the Cape, anyone badged to be on the property, but there are special gatherings and events such as Descendant's Day when the relatives of past Keepers come to see the lighthouse and visit the graves of their ancestors. Plans are in the works to recreate the Keeper's homes which will give us a lot more room for our Keeper's Closet, the gift shop we operate in the base of the tower. Painting the lighthouse is the current project, beginning in November 2005 and hopefully being completed in February 2006. Please visit my Webshots albums for pictures of the tower, the grounds, and the inside of the tower. We're planning to be open to the public one day, and when we are we all hope you'll come and visit!! Below you will find Featured Links - sites that I enjoy enough to list them on their own - and also on-going lists of lighthouse pages, pages about lighthouse preservation and lighthouse societies, lighthouse hotels and travel spots, some great lighthouse photography and art sites, and links for places to shop for lighthouse items. If you find one that I should add, please email me and let me know.
Brian and Amanda, two Lighthouse Hunters who got married at the top of the Biloxi lighthouse, contacted me years ago when they saw my own Biloxi lighthouse page was severely lacking in pictures. While stationed there with the Air Force, they helped decorate and maintain the light so Brian had taken a lot of pictures and he kindly allowed me to use some of his photos on my Biloxi Lighthouse site. He has since started his own great lighthouse pages featuring the lights he and Amanda have visited all over the USA. They came through Florida twice since we became acquainted and I was happy to be able to take them out to the Cape Canaveral lighthouse where I volunteer. Visit Brian and Amanda at the Lighthouse Hunters page and enjoy all of the great pictures they've taken. And now they have the cutest little daughter they can take with them when go lighthouse hunting!
The American Lighthouse Foundation will be auctioning off items on eBay to help raise money for lighthouse restoration and preservation projects. You can check the site often to bid on something to help this worthy cause.

Since the Cape Hatteras Light relocation was such an important event, many special sites were created in honor of the move. Lots of information can be found at National Park Service Relocation Articles and Images. Visit the Outer Banks pages for info on all the NC lights.
