PONCE DeLEON INLET LIGHTHOUSE and MUSEUM

In July 1999, we took our boat up the Indian River, thru the Mosquito Lagoon, to Ponce Inlet to see the lighthouse and museum there. We rounded a bend in the river and there was the light, standing up straight beyond the masts of the sailboats in the marina below it.

birds swooping over the lightWe cruised around in front of the light and took a few pictures from the boat. In this one, we caught a flock of birds as they swooped over the top of the second tallest light in the United States. We decided to get a slip at the Lighthouse Marina for the night and climb the light the next day when it opened.

After a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant, we went back to the boat for the night. The next day we walked up the street to visit the lighthouse, browsed around the gift shop, then headed outside to visit the museum buildings, the lens building and the light.
