That's me inside the Koubba al-Khamsiniyya in the Palais el-Badi, the most famous of the palaces in Marrakesh. The palace was built by Ahmed al-Mansour between 1578 and 1602, at the time of its construction it was reputed to be one of the most beautiful in the world (and was known as the "incomparable"). I'm in a large reception hall used on state occasions and named after its 50 marble columns. The place in general was torn apart in 1696 by Moulay Ismail in order to build his new capitol in Meknes. |
