Artie's 88 year old mother Adella visited us from August 28 till September 16, 2002. Check out the many pictures from her visit to get an idea of some of the fun things we did together, and find out where we went! |
We had a delightful time with Ron and Jo Schuh when they visited us in February from the 15th through the
21st of 2002. Together, we went to see the Concho y Toro winery, the Valle Nevado ski resort as well as some local
sights here in Santiago. In the middle of their visit, they went off alone to the beautiful lakes district to visit Puerto Montt, Frutillar, the Island of Chiloe, and cruise on Lago Todos los Santos. |

Dom Kennedy and Ann Lynnworth Artie's niece and her friend Dom came to visit us from Sydney, Australia, from April 27 to May 11. They spent many hours working on my computer and bringing it up to date with more memory, a CD burner, a network hub and a newer operating system. We took a number of scenic day trips in the area, and a 3 day trip across the Argentina border near Los Andes. We shared a number of Yoga classes, in the apartment, a local park and at a thermal spa. We enjoyed many vegetarian meals that they, we and Mónica prepared. |
|
Long time family friend Alan Levit came with Artie's brother Ray, for a quick visit from March 25th to the 30th. We took a 3 day trip with them to Temuco and Pucón in the northern part of the lake district. We sent back enough enticing pictures to encourage their wives to come the next time. |
Pat & Dave Bollinger Margy's sister and her husband visited February 7-21. We took a trip with them to Puerto Montt, Chiloé, and Frutillar, in the beautiful lake district. They stayed longer in the south and drove across the border to Barriloche, Argentina, before returning to us in Santiago. |

Margy's nephew Peter Trabold arrived on January 4th of 2001 with his fiancé Dawn Dolan. Since
our parents were still here with us, there were three generations under one roof here in Chile. This was a good
opportunity for our parents to meet and get to know Dawn. Peter is a graduate student, earning his Ph.D. at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY, and Dawn is a Physician Assistant student at Daemen College, also in Buffalo. |
Our parents came for their second visit here in Chile from December 22, 2000 to January 7th, 2001. We managed
to pack in a lot of fun activities, with an emphasis on people. We got together with all of the people they met
here on their first visit and also socialized with even more of our Chilean friends, and of course with Daddy's
grandson Peter and his fiancé Dawn. We are proud of our parents with their adventurous spirit and willingness at 86 and 88 to travel to the southern hemisphere to visit us. |

Kim Anschultz, a daughter of our across the street neighbors when we lived in Lake City, Florida, was in Santiago for a few days late in August 2000. We picked her up at her hotel and took her shopping at Santa Lucia before taking her to Da Dinos and showing her our apartment. |
|
27-29 June 2000, Jenna Borberg and Liz visited us at the end of their 3 month trip through South
America. Coming from Machu Pichu, we enjoyed comparing our experiences. Jenna is the daughter of a close college
friend of Artie's high school friend, Roy Ratcliffe. The girls spent part of their last day touring Santiago with Mónica's son Alejandro. |

On 11 February 2000 our long time friend, John Famula, came for a quick visit . In the 24 hours he was here, we managed to fit in an afternoon drive partway up into the Andes, where I took this picture. John is now president of operations for Wartsila, and his first job out of Notre Dame was working for Artie 25 years ago. |
|
Gil Mattson, a student from Artie's banjo-building class at the John C. Campbell Folk School, visited us for a few days earlier in February 2000 coming to Santiago as a courier. On top of Cerro San Cristobol, we enjoyed this view of our section of Santiago. |
