I will be doing the Frontier BTEC in Tropical habitat Conservation. This is a Level 3 certificate, equivalent to an A-level and is provided by EdExcel. The BTEC incorporates the training and participatory learning already experienced by all expedition research assistants on Frontier projects. It includes approx 250 hrs of training. Candidates like me are continually assessed and we have to give a verbal presentation and submit a written report. Although it's extra work, the idea of gaining an unusual qualification such as this and to have had fun doing it appealed to me! For more information on the BTEC, click on the picture: Update - On 29th April 2002 my report was finished and my BTEC folder sent off for assessment, so fingers crossed! Find my report here.
