This particualr side of my family's beginnings start at Alexander & Kaaikaula who were my Tutu's, great grandparents on her mothers side. These 2 people had 14 children. The 3rd child was also Alexander. He was my Tutu's grandfather. That Alexander and his wife Tamar had 10 children. Their 3rd child was Rose. Rose was my Tutu's mother. Rose and her husband Samuel had 7 children which included one adopted child. Their 4th child is Tamar, which is my Tutu. So, Tamar, my Tutu, and her husband Freddie had 2 childern. Their second child was Terry and he is my father. Terry & his first wife Carole had 2 children. Their 2nd child is Tami (me). Tami & her first husband had 1 child. This child is Ricky, (my son).
After all that you can see that my geniology from this particular side of the family, has been kept track of very well. Ny son Ricky is the 7th generation down from where the tracking began. I have a family book that our cousin, Dorcas, has put together and it is as thick as a telephone book. It has all of the family lines from each of the 14 children going all the way down to the present. It is full of family tree charts and news paper article and pictures of each of the people listed in the book in cluding myself. it is very interesting. And has quiet a bit of history in it. The book states that in 1970 there were 849 people in our family count and at the writing or this book there are now 3486. Is that amazing or what ?
The reunion was held at the Sheriton Waikiki. In a banquet room. There were approxamately 456 people in attendance. It was very well organized. We had a sit down dinner of Hawaiian food. Poi, lomi salmon, kalua pig, sweet potatoe, fried rice, island fish, chicken long rice, juice and coconut cake. Everything was wonderful. We were able to buy family t-shirts of which I bought 2. And purchase the family books if we so desired. It was a wonderful experience that I hope to one day again have the opportunity to do again.
My photo'sof the event did not come out very well due to my camera and the lighting inside of the hall, but this one was pretty good and it shows the family banner for the reunion. |
