Bright Lights, No City

The first time Bonnie and I were in Thailand, we saw reddish lights slowly drift across the night sky.  They were clearly being launched in the distance, and were each visible for about 30 minutes.  As the year 2000 approached, we got to see some of the lights up close.  They are huge paper lanterns with a flame burning inside.  The heat makes the lamps float, and the wind slowly carries them off into the distance.  God knows where they fall.
