We stayed
at the Serhan Hotel in Gumbet.

It's a lovely
airconditioned hotel (which we really appreciated). There's a
good sized pool which didn't get to busy, a bar and restaurant.
Breakfast is Turkish (bread, white cheese, olives, salami, tomatoes,
cucumber and a selection of jams and marmalades.), dinner is served
by the pool and is a 3 course set menu.

There are
numerous bars and restaurants in the town, all generally serving
the same variety of food so the competition to get you into their
restaurant is fierce. One restaurant we enjoyed eating in was
Blues, we first went there because it was the only place that
we were able to look at the menu without being harrassed! The
food was very good quality, reasonably priced (some of the restaurants
along the main road can get quite pricey) and the owners very
friendly (they even baked me a cake on my birthday!)
When we were
in Gumbet in July 1997 the price of beer ranged from 89,000 to
250,000 for a 500ml glass, which at the exchange rate of the time
was about 30p to £1.
