Gulet Trip || Turkish Night || Milas || Village Tour || Ephesus || Tour Operators

There are many day trips that can be taken from Gumbet or Bodrum. I have included thumbnail copies of the photographs below, view the image if you want to see more.

Gulet Trip

One of the most popular trips is the boat trip where a Gulet takes you around several of the local bays.

This is a relaxing day with several stops to swim in the clear water and usually a visit to Camel Bay for a ride on the camels (not again! anyone who has read my Lanzarote page will say.)

The prices vary greatly for this trip from between £7 and £15 so shop around - your tour operator will probably be the most expensive.

Turkish Night

Most of the tour operators have a turkish night. This may seem quite expensive but the food is great (make sure you fill up on the buffet of starters as the main course is a bit of a let down) and the drink free. The entertainment is really good and it's a great chance to meet people.

Milas

There is a large market in Milas on Tuesday's that is worth visiting. Most goods are cheaper here than in Gumbet or Bodrum. Especially good are the fake Levis (and other named brands) jeans, noone will be able to tell the difference and they are only about £8 each!

We went on the First Choice tour which included the Village Tour as well. If you just want to go to the market then you can get a Dolmus from Bodrum.

If you get a bit peckish then go to one of the Turkish cafes, located along the side of the food area, for a very cheap and filling meal.

Village Tour

We went on the village tour to Commlecki which was suprisingly really interesting. (As mentioned above we did this on the same day as the trip to Milas, but it is offered separately.)

You get to see the women at work on the famous Turkish carpets and wander through the town and houses before a chance to buy a carpet at very low prices.

Ephesus and Pammukale

If you want to visit Ephesus and Pammukale (especially if you are on holiday for two weeks) then many of the tour operators offer either one day trips to one of the sights or an overnight trip to both.

Tour Operators

There are many tour operators offering these and other trips so shop around a bit. Generally the tour company you went with will be one of the most expensive on offer. A good company we found was KLS which was offering trips at the following prices:

  • Boat Trip - £8
  • Ephesus or Pammukale, 1 day - £13
  • Ephesus and Pammukale, 2 day - £32
  • Dalyan - £13 (don't expect to see the turtles on this trip as they are out at night and noone is allowed on the beach after 6pm)
