A Walk to Tokyo by Rob Page The sun was high in the sky The clang of the trains could be heard We were ready with our water It was time to walk on to Tokyo We set off north towards Shinagawa We talked over the vrrm of the passing cars Crash! Boom! Bang! A biker and motorcyclist lay unconscious Wee.er! Wee.er! Wee.er! the ambulance screamed by But we pressed on, on to Tokyo Meow! Meow! A pathetic, homeless kitten A new companion for our journey He stayed in my bag for the next 5 miles We rested for an hour when we gave him a home We had lost a friend and were off, on to Tokyo Night was setting in The lights were coming on The clankity clank of the nearby train continually rang out Hunger was coming on, but we persevered We continued on into the dark, on to Tokyo The end was nearing But dinner was calling We stopped at a ramen hut Then we were there, Tokyo Station Clankity clang clang we were on the platform. We boarded the luxury car for a 20 mile ride home |
