No Akina on KouhakuThursday, December 1, 2005NHK has revealed the list of performers for this year's Kouhaku Utagassen, and, unfortunately, Akina's name is not among them. With Akina's favorable results in NHK's Suki Uta fan poll--both of her listed songs (Kazarijanainoyo Namidawa and DESIRE) made the top 100--prompting many fans to eagerly anticipate her possible Kouhaku appearance, this news came as quite a disappointment. Akina fans will have to take consolation in her upcoming releases and, for those fortunate to attend, her dinner shows this month.
25th Anniversary Best CompilationThursday, December 1, 2005Akina will release a best compilation album on January 11, 2006 to commemorate her 25th anniversary in the music industry. According to Faithway's web site, the album will be entitled "BEST FINGER ~ 25th Anniversary Selection" (UMCK-1200), and will feature a collection of songs especially chosen by Akina. The CD is expected to include a mix of newly re-recorded past hits as well as a selection of recent singles. Update- the track list is as follows:
New SingleTuesday, November 1, 2005Great news for all Akina fans who have been anticipating her next new release! Faithway has announced that Akina will be releasing a new single entitled "Rakka Ryusui" on December 7, 2005 (UMCK-5136). Following a period of more than a year since her last single "Hajimete Deatta Hi no Youni," this long-awaited title will serve as the theme song for the upcoming TV Tokyo feature drama "Tenka Soran ~ Tokugawa Sandai no Inbo" airing on January 2, 2006.
As an additional highlight, the single will be coupled with a newly recorded version of the 1986 hit single
"DESIRE," which earned Akina her second of two consecutive Record Taisho wins.
Upcoming DVD ReleaseTuesday, November 1, 2005Fans who have been looking to enjoy another live performance by Akina will certainly be pleased by this bit of news! On January 11, 2006, Akina will be releasing a new live DVD "Akina Nakamori Special Live 2005 ~ Empress at Club eX" (AVBC-22458). The DVD will feature a complete performance (July 15th) from Akina's 2005 concert series at Club eX in Tokyo. The program is as follows:

Kouhaku Uta Gassen Viewer PollWednesday, September 14, 2005NHK is conducting a fan poll to select the artists and songs that will be featured on the 56th Annual Kouhaku Uta Gassen in December. Fans may vote online by visiting this URL: https://www.nhk.or.jp/kouhaku/vote/. Submissions will be accepted through October 31, 2005. To cast your vote, begin by clicking on the "enter poll" button. You will be asked to enter your personal e-mail address (cell phone e-mail addresses cannot be used). Make sure you enter your e-mail address correctly. NHK will send an e-mail to the address you specified. The message will include a link to the actual polling page. Click on the link to go to it. A list of 600 songs (searchable by singer name, time frame and keywords) will be presented. You may vote for up to 3 songs from the list. In addition, you may vote for one unlisted song by specifying the artist's name and title of the song. Akina has two songs on the list: Kazarijanainoyo Namidawa (#382) and DESIRE (#417). Finally, you will be asked to provide some personal information. Gender, age and native prefecture are required fields. Name and address are optional. Happy 40th Birthday, Akina!Wednesday, July 13, 2005Akina officially turned 40 today. Currently in the midst of her Special Live ~ Empress concert series at Shinagawa Club eX in Tokyo, she celebrated her special day with a pair of performances. The concert shows had a running time of approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes. Akina performed the entire show without a single change of costume. The program was as follows:
Akina's 40th BirthdayWednesday, July 6, 2005Best wishes to Akina as she will be celebrating a milestone birthday one week from today. She will turn 40 on July 13. Akina has come a long way since she made her debut on May 1, 1982, at the tender age of 16.

Congratulations to Akina! Today marks another anniversary of Akina's debut. Akina debuted 23 years ago with the single "Slow Motion" on May 1, 1982.
Akina Nakamori Special Live 2005Wednesday, April 13, 2005
The single venue for all shows is Shinagawa CLUB eX, where Akina will be performing on a round stage. The club's seating capacity is limited to 450 and all seats are priced at ¥12,000. Faithway fan club members can place advance orders from April 11th to the 18th by calling 0570-063-015 (operators are standing by 24 hours). From April 25th to the 27th, individuals who requested tickets must call 0570-063-034 to access an automated system (in Japanese only) in order to find out whether they have been assigned seats. Individuals who did receive seats must then remit payment via Japan P.O. no later than April 28th. Additional details may be obtained from Lawson Ticket service at 0570-000-403 (daily from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm).
At this time, there are no plans for Akina to perform outside Tokyo.
TV Appearances in JanuarySunday, January 30, 2005In January, Akina made televised guest appearances on NTV's "Uta no Daijiten" and Fuji TV's "HEY!HEY!HEY! Music Champ". The January 19 (Wed) broadcast of "Uta no Daijiten" took a look back at winter 1986 and featured a video clip of Akina performing "DESIRE," which held the #1 ranking at the time. The January 24 (Mon) "HEY!HEY!HEY! Music Champ" segment reflected on Akina's remarkable career and featured video clips from past music shows, including a number of humorous scenes. |
