Photos in Hong Kong

This picture was taken just before the Cathay Pacific plane was going to touch down at Kai Tek Airport...... So sad that the airport is now closed already.
Taken in Hong Kong Island, on a very high spot (sorry, can't remember the name of this famous tourist stop-point) which has a panaromic view of Kowloon, across the island. On that day we were taken to various parts of Hong Kong. Seen here with Jenny, Shu Chia Hwa and Lin Yun Yang.
A few photos of the panaromic view taken from the above spot:
This is the famous race course in Hong Kong, which is always featured in Hong Kong movies. Finally saw the real one.
We were taken to a leather factory on Hong Kong Island for sight-seeing, and later to this pier which is opposite Jumbo Restaurant. Seen here with Changchien Wen Ting.
See? This is Jumbo Restaurant, view from the pier.......
Despite sightseeing tour provided as in above, we were very adventurous too. The large Hong Kong population in AYO were very keen to bring us around in Hong Kong, especially to music schools. The 2 photos were taken on the ferry from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island, where their music school, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts(APA) is. That is our performance venue taken from the sea.....and far behind, the golden-looking building is the hotel where we stayed during our Hong Kong performance tour..... so we walked from the hotel through the busy streets to the performance venue everyday for rehearsals and performances.... really memorable experience....
We are finally at the entrance of the APA, taking a photo again....
A few photos taken inside APA:
This is a basketball court inside the school. I took this photo because there is a helicopter landing ground outside (near the sea there....) but it is not clear here in the photo.
This is the auditorium. We all stood upstairs at the organ there, but too bad the photo did not come out clear too.
This photo was taken from a bridge just outside APA. See the busy traffic? Reminds me of the commercial hub back in Singapore at Shenton Way.....
We took this on the upper decker of the electric tram just outside our visit in APA. From left are Hsueh Chih Chang, me, Lai Chia-Chi and Tsai Loo.
This is a rehearsal before the concert in Hong Kong. Standing playing solo violin is Iga Aya, one of our 2 student soloists. She played Bach's Violin Concerto in E Major, all 3 movements. Note the beautiful concert hall....
Now in the rehearsal standing playing solo violin is famous American-Korean violinist Young Uck Kim, who travelled with us to perform the dark and melancholic Sibelius Violin Concerto. His playing was superb with intensity and emotions!!!
This is the ceiling of the concert hall, very elaborated in design......
See the person lying there? He is Yong Kai Lin, one of our concertmasters, posing for this picture with me, Hsieh Shih Yun and Lai Chia Chi.
After we took the above picture, we decided to come out of the concert hall and took some outside the hall. See the small stage behind me? My quartet preformed there for our chamber concert. This is the interior of Hong Kong Arts Centre.... really very beautiful.
We also went out of the Arts Centre to enjoy the breeze.... we were very near the sea actually, and this is the view of Hong Kong Island from the Arts Centre.... It was a windy evening and the lights were very colourful and pretty.... The photo below is another shot of the beautiful scenery.....
A memorable photo taken against the beautiful Hong Kong Island view.... with Hsieh Shih Yun. Wonder how is she now?
This is the famous clock tower of Hong Kong Arts Centre.... Behind it can see the Motorola sign there....
This photo was taken during a dinner after our concert.....
I remembered losing my way to the Pizza Hut restaurant, which is very near to the concert hall in Tsim Tsa Tsui.
Seen here with (from left in clockwise direction) Yi Shien, Shu Yi, Tsai Loo, me, Chia Chi, Patrick and Nicholas.
Ha! This is Jenny.....
This photo was taken on our sightseeing tour around Hong Kong Island on a small ship.... the ship is double-decker storeys, most of us stayed on the second storey to see the scenery, but Jenny felt like vommitting, so she stayed "downstairs"..... during the second half of the trip, she and some other AYO members who got dizzy took the tunnel way back to Kowloon after our dinner at Jumbo restaurant (see jumbo restaurant photo below).
Seen here with Hsiao Po-Ling and Apichai, enjoying the nice wind and scenery on the second "storey" of the ship...
Seen here with Genevieve and Meng Ngee, both Singaporean double bassists, also enjoying the nice wind and scenery on the second "storey" of the ship... wonder how they are doing now??
We stopped at Jumbo restaurant on our sightseeing trip on the ship.... also ate our dinner here in this famous floating restaurant. The restaurant looked very nice at night, with the lights lit up.
This is the front view of the restaurant as our ship approached the main gate .....
See? Seen here with Jenny Tan, Changchien Wen Ting and Lee Shao Lan, eating inside the Jumbo Restaurant..... Jenny as usual is itchy with her hand and pulling a few strands of Wen Ting's hair... hee hee....
