Tokyo was our last destination, and this was the last rehearsal... Mr Foss was wearing a jacket given by some AYO people with Chinese words at the back... seen here is another violin soloist Akiko Suwanai who played the Bach Violin Concerto in E Major with us in Tokyo and Osaka. Note the beautiful concert hall...... |
The back of the stage can be "opened" to see the outside of the concert hall!! Such an unusual hall!! |
A group of us happened to meet outside the toilets in the back-stage and took this photo!! Really wonder how all of them are now??? |
After the last concert on 28th Aug 1992, after the sad "Nimrod" which we played to mark the end of the concert tour.... all of us cried like crazy and seemed not be bothered by the fact that we were still on stage.... because we knew we had to say good bye after this last concert!!! It was so emotional, the air in the concert hall was still and filled with sadness for a few seconds after the last note of "Nimrod" faded away.... I am sure the audience must had been touched by our playing (and crying), it was tremendously sad!! we had a farewell dinner at the hotel... but I was so upset that I remembered I was still crying after I reached my hotel room. I just could not believe that all these wonderful concerts had ended, and that I was going to part with all these friends whom I had shared so much for 6 weeks together, whom we had played as one during each and every concert!! We had a farewell dinner .... |
This was the first photo after I came out of my room to join the party.... Somehow I just wanted to hug our stage manager Naomi Chung, to express my sadness..... |
Now feeling better, with the smile back on my face (a hard smile though), take this photo with Lien Yi Shien....... |
Everybody just tried to take photo with everyone....for the last time.... seen now with Tu An Wen and Patrick Lee, holding an autograph book..... |
Seen here with my dear standmate Aida Momoko, who brought me around Tokyo, to her music school the famous Toho Music School, and brought me to Yamaha in Shibuya where I bought my violin case and music stand, both of them which I still use and think of her today..... |
Seen here with Tsujita Rina, Fujimura Saori and Yoshida Atsuko. Atsuko was my first stand partner on the first rehearsal in UWC, and here in the photo we had to part...... |
A photo with our maestro Mr Lukas Foss.... so fortunate to have this photo taken!! He conducted us in Program A of our performance repertoire, while the other maestro Mr David Alan Miller who left us earlier conducted Program B. |
This is Lee Shao Lan, who played double bass and had joined AYO for many seasons. She is presently doing her PHD in music in Northwestern University in USA. We still keep in touch occasionally..... Have not seen her since this last day in 1992!!! See the other members shaking hands to say farewell or taking pictues.. it was really a memorable day..... |
