In Kumamoto, we were arranged to stay with host families. 2 AYO students were "attached" to one Japanese host family. Here, I was paired up with Kanda Megumi (rightmost pretty girl, AYO trombonist). In this photo, the daughter in the host family, Hiromi, brought us to a Japanese restaurant. |
See? I am very fast in learning the Japanese way of kneeling.... very painful after kneeling like this for a long time.... but it was very fun to learn more of the Japanese culture. |
This photo was taken on our way to the hot spring on Mount Aso in Kumamoto.... It was a long ride from the host family's house, and we decided to take a picture on the way up to Mount Aso. Seen here is the mother of the host family with both of us. Oh, the landscape in Kumamoto is very beautiful, with vast stretches of trees and padi fields... very unlike here in Singapore. |
This is an interesting photo! Must say this first: I ONLY ate the food BEFORE me, not ALL!! This is taken after a hot spring bath in Kumamoto, where we were put to stay with host family for 3 days. It was a very special experience to bathe in a hot spring valley publicly, and Kumamoto has many such natural hot springs. |
The foreground is the Kumamoto Palace, which is a famous
tourist spot. Down there, we met other AYO people brought there by their own host families and we just took a picture in front of the Palace for remembrance. |
