Weimaraners

The weimaraner is a wonderful breed of dogs and I speak from experience.
My parents own a wonderful Weimaraner,
Prinz Rustig von
Sarasburg. However, I wouldn't recommend these dogs to anyone who didn't
want a constant and energetic companion. I do mean a constant
companion. Your dog will be your shadow and will stand right behind you or
beside you no matter what you are doing. (This is not always a good thing,
as you could be weed whacking and whack your dog. This never happened to me
because I trained Prinz to stay on the porch, but my mother reported that he
is always right behind her as she works in the yard.) Please don't get a
Weimaraner if you really don't have the time to dedicate to their proper
training and socialization. These dogs can be timid if not properly
trained or socialized. They are a very determined breed of dogs and love to
be with their owners above all else. If you don't give them enough attention
they will find a way to get your attention away from other things.
An important thing to remember is that in order for this breed to remain
as terrific as it is, you and I as Weimaraner lovers must breed these dogs
with care and responsibility. A good place to visit as a breeder or person
interested in the breed is the Weimaraner Club of America homepage. Of course as a breeder, you should
be a member in order to keep the standards of the Weimaraner alive. This
site is also a good source of information on Weimaraners, especially books
and history.
