Two wise rules:
The most blatant encounter I had with a wedding shark was at the drycleaners. I took my dress from the dressmakers straight to the drycleaners before the wedding to make sure it was clean of any stiffening, nervous sweat or fur from my dressmaker’s cat. I marched into the drycleaners wearing jeans and no make-up, I had 1001 things to do, so dropped the dress off in a hurry. The cost was $18.90. Post wedding, still with that honeymoon glow, I strolled into the same drycleaners wearing a nice dress, make up and respectable hair and said "I’d like my wedding dress cleaned please" and I saw the gleam in the piranha’s eyes as she said "we charge extra for wedding dresses, as they’re so delicate" and despite my angry protests ("it’s an ordinary dress with nothing fancy, you only charged me $18.90 before, etc"), charged me $35.00.
