To watch and protect yours. To hear and detect evil minds in the dark. To scent the invader of your domain. I've been trained to see it through. When danger's near my ears perk up, they taught me that as a little pup. my presence sometimes hinders fights. I never attack with thought to kill, when subduing one, my job I fill. as to how I'll fare at a certain spot. The love I have for a handler's care, is all I need, each day to fare. And if some day my luck turns bad, I'll relish all the joys I've had. in a special kind of brotherhood. The story's end by now you know, of how I tried for a better show. when I was called and gave my all. |
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet leaves us, it goes to this place. There is always food and water, and warm Spring days. Those old and frail animals are young again. Those who have been maimed are made whole again. Those who were sick are healthy again. They play all day with each other. But there is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks into the distance. The nose twitches, the ears prick, the eyes are intent, the body eager and quivering. Suddenly it runs from the group, flying over the green grass, its legs carrying it faster and faster. You have come and your special friend leaps to greet you. Happy kisses rain upon your face and hands. You look once again into the trusting eyes, hands caressing the beloved head, stroking the silken ears so long gone from your life but not from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated again. |
