Gay Family Issue

Ukrainian boys in the search of life's partnership want to build it on legitimate basis. There is nothing unnatural in their wish to be officially married.

The institution of family has always played an important role in Orthodox Ukrainian society. The sire, the patriarch, used to guide other family members, determining what would be good for them and deciding for the young which road to choose. Although such relationships were supposed to operate in an atmosphere of acceptance, intimacy, support, and trust, very often, like in many other cultures, the elders failed to make a fair judgement, breaking lives of many subsequent generations.

Same-sex unions are not generally accepted in Ukraine, especially in smaller provincial cities and villages, and you are advised to refrain from showing affection in public. Still negative public attitude cannot prevent two loving hearts from staying together. But there are many gay men who need to expess their feelings in the form of marriage - and they are looking for a husband in countries where the legislation allows such official unions. This is not the wish to change the living conditions that lead them to Western gay society. In most cases this is only the intention to be loved officially - and on the basis of law.

Many of them will continue to stay in Ukraine if our domestic legislation could make the same-sex union possible, however it can hardly happen in the near future. Moreover it can easy happen that the gay contacts will be banned again. Ukrainian Parliament Rada has put several new laws about strengthen of moral climat in society. Now many things that became legel after the end of communist are prohibited again - and it goes to the total prohibition of same-sex intercourse in the near future.
