How Society (and families) Disadvantage People For Being Gay
Navigation Bar 1. can't show affectionate gestures to partner in public eg. holding hands. 

2. fear of being bashed 

3. same sex relationships do not have any legal status 

4. discrimination, ostracism generally by society because of homophobia, fear and ignorance 

5. non acceptance of partner by friends and family 

6. no tax deductions because of single status 

7. no compensation for partners of same sex relationships regarding superannuation payouts, social security, health insurance etc. 

8. Same sex couples with children are not recognised legally as a family. 

9. Gays have no automatic legal rights when partner is either incapacitated and cant speak for him/herself or dies. 

10. Same sex couples cant adopt children. 

11. Telling family members one is gay is very stressful and the person can face possible rejection from family members. 

12. Society is still not as accepting of homosexuality, as it should be, therefore making many gays feel living a closeted life is necessary. 

13. Often times gays have to leave their home town because of ridicule, fear and ignorance 

14. Often times young gays have to change schools because of being bashed or fear of, ridicule and ostracism. 

The list can go on endlessly, how can people believe this is a sexual PREFERENCE would you CHOOSE this lifestyle, with so many
adversities.  Most of our sons and daughters go on and make successes of their lives, but they need parental support and understanding to
help them overcome the tough times because of  governments slow to change and homophobia in society.
