Either way, it didn't take very long for my little "secret" to get out -And when it did, I was on a bus headed back home before I knew what happened.

Looking back, my time in the army was a good experience for me.

Ironically, I think I learned more about myself in the army than I did coming out of the closet.

I was in the army back in the good 'ol days before basic training was co-ed, and just after "don't ask, don't tell".

Some people thought I joined the army to make a political statement, others thought I was making a last desperate attempt to go straight, but really I just needed money for college.

These are my perfect pups.

Sammy is the brown one on the left, Princess is the blonde one on the right. Sometimes they pretend not to like each other when they're competing for attention, but here I caught them snuggling when they didn't think I was looking.

Princess is the timid cuddly one.

She cheers me up when I'm feeling down. She barks at the critters in the backyard. She hides from the vacuum cleaner.

She listens to me.

Sammy is the athletic boisterous one.

She'll walk right onto your head while you're sleeping to remind you when it's time to go outside and chase the ball.

Then she'll chase the ball for hours and still want more.

I shared the pups with my ex for a while. We lived next door to each other after we split up to make it easier. We all had lots of good times before and after we were together. Read about it here.

Then he moved out of state to be closer to his family. Technically, Princess is mine and Sammy is his. The pups don't know the difference, though, and we didn't want to split them up. I kept the pups for a while, and now he's taking a turn with them. I'm not sure when I'm getting them back. I hope it's soon.
