Who I Am
My Name is Jeannette LaRush-Woodman and I live on a very beautiful Island in the St Lawrence river. I like to go to exotic places and now that I am retired, I can indulge myself as long as my health and money hold out.
In 1985 when I took my holidays I joined my daughter in Athens, Greece and we backpacked around Europe for a month. After that I was hooked , and finally in 1996 after I retired from my job as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, I lived my dream of going to the Himalayas to trek. I was sixty-four at the time and a bit apprehensive about going to that altitude. I knew it was then or never and after taking a successful stress test I decided to just go and do it.
My traveling companion was Pauline Pelletier. I heard about Pauline
through a mutual acquaintance, while on a bicycle trip with the Cataraqui
Canoe Club. We both wanted to go to Nepal and did not have anyone to go
with. We met and had a good feeling for each other and decided to go for
it. Pauline lives in Ottawa and is fluent in French and English. This was
a bonus many times as we met many French speaking people.
