Benma's Spring Splash II

WELCOME to the NEW AND IMPROVED Benma 1/2 ULTIMATE COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEBSITE, a subdivision of Spring Splash.

Obviously, football season is over, but you can still read my thoughts and opinions about last season, as well as my infamous BA TOP 25 AND "Help Wanted" BOTTOM 13.

The BA Top 25 1999-2000 Final Rankings
Rank and team Record Predicted Record Why Prediction Failed
1. Florida State 12-0 (8-0) National Champions 10-1 (7-1) Plus one win vs. Georgia Tech
2. Virginia Tech 11-1 (7-0) 10-1 (7-0) Plus one win vs. Virginia
3. Wisconsin 10-2 (7-1) 10-1 (7-1) Plus one loss vs. Cincinnati
4. Nebraska 12-1 (8-1) 9-2 (6-2) Plus one win; plus a Footlong Championship win
5. Alabama 10-3 (8-1) Suck East Champions 10-2 (7-2) Suck East West Champions Plus one conference win
6. Michigan 10-2 (6-2) 10-1 (8-0) Big 10 1/2" Champions Plus one loss, losses to *snicker* Michigan State and *guffaw* Illinois
7. Michigan State 10-2 (6-2) 5-6 (4-4) So I don't know the Big 10 1/2" as well as I think I do
8. Marshall 13-0 (9-0) DNP Self Explanatory
9. Florida 9-4 (7-2) 8-3 (6-2) Plus one win pre-Suck East Championship
10. Stanford 8-4 (7-1) 3-8 (2-6) Now I know that if a team returns 90 players from a 99 man roster, they're going to do alright.
11. Tennessee 9-3 (6-2) 9-2 (6-2) Dead on prediction!!
12. Georgia 8-4 (5-3) 12-0 (8-0) My longshot National Champion Runners-up just weren't good enough
13. Texas 9-5 (6-3) 10-2 (6-2) Losses because of outside influences. Footlong Championship: unnecessary game. Kansas State: luck. Texas A&M: Emotion
14. Purdue 7-5 (4-4) 5-6 (3-5) Drew Brees led the way and should have won more
15. Penn State 10-3 (5-3) 10-2 (7-1) Plus one loss--thank you Minnesota!!
16. Kansas State 11-1 (7-1) 8-3 (5-3) Texas and Colorado blew games they should have won
17. Oregon 9-3 (6-2) 7-4 (4-4) Plus one win
18. Mississippi State 10-2 (6-2) DNP Self Explanatory
19. Arkansas (8-4 (4-4) 8-3 (5-3) Plus one loss
20. Minnesota 8-4 (5-3) 7-4 (4-4) Plus one win
21. Illinois 8-4 (4-4) 2-9 (1-7) You expect me to know everything?
22. Miami 9-4 (6-1) 9-3 (6-1) Plus one loss
23. Boston College 8-4 (4-3) DNP Self Explanatory
24. Texas A&M 8-4 (5-3) 11-1 (8-1) Footlong South Champions Another team that finished strong this year (Arizona) but sucked this year
25. USC 6-6 (3-5) 11-1 (7-1) Rose Bowl Champions Injury to Carson Palmer, no killer instinct, and I graduated
The "Help Wanted" Bottom 13 1999-2000 Final Rankings
Rank and team Record Why
13. Duke 3-8 (3-5) The only one of the Infamous Four left as The Wake had a winning 6-5! regular season and there are worse teams than 5-6 Pitt and Vanderbilt.
12. Baylor or Iowa 1-10 (0-8) In the Footlong and Big 10 1/2" respectively...take your pick.
11. Rutgers 1-10 (0-6) Big Least Losers, but 55-0 against Miami is just pathetic.
10. Northwestern 3-8 (1-7) Dead on overall, off by one in conference prediction!! Perpetual midnight since the Cinderella season.
9. Washington State 2-10 (1-7) Dead on overall, off by one in conference prediction!!
8. UNLV 3-8 (1-6) John Robinson adds three wins from an 0-11 year, but Mountain West basement nevertheless.
7. North Texas 2-9 (1-5) The Not-So-Big-West cellar dwellers.
6. UCLA 4-7 (2-6) Bob Toledo, you SUCK!!
5. South Carolina 0-11 (0-8) Lou Holtz 0-fer in 1st season at the other 'SC...seems his boys need to stop messing around with their fellow Gamecocks during the game.
4. Buffalo 0-11 (0-8) 0-11 (0-8) No MAC Daddies here!!
3. Arizona 6-6 Mildcats--6 wins and a national championship off my prediction.
2. Penn State 10-3 3 straight losses for the most OVERRATED team of 1999.
1. Notre Dame 5-7 True, they won the only game that matters in their schedule, but a 4 game skid to end the season, not bowl eligible, and the luckiest calls I've ever seen (nothing new there) win out for number one in the Bottom 13 and #114 out of #114 I-A teams.
