The NFL's all-time rushing leader and and ex-Bears great Walter Payton died on Monday, Nov. 1 in his home at the age of 45. Payton had suffered from primary sclerosing cholangitis, a rare liver disease that could only be cured by a transplant. Payton gained an NFL-record 16,726 yards in 13 seasons (1975-87) and won a world championship with the Bears in Super Bowl XX.
