Deadly and devilish, Demons are creatures from another realm which is known by many names, but the most common terminology is Hell. Thousands of different Demon races exist, many of which have never even set foot on the mortal coil. We have here, though, some races which are more commonly known to man. Most demon races are unisex.
Any species with no asterisk next to its name is based on traditional myth or folklore.
* These species have been created in books or movies etc or by people outside of Lan Mesinsure.
** These species were created for the Atlantis series by Lan Mesinsure staff.

* Hell Guards: Hell Guards are Very rarely seen on the mortal plane, and when you do, beware. These monstrosities stand at around eight feel tall, have light brown skin, and a human torso, but a bull's head and legs. They shoot green fireballs from their palms when they're not tearing apart mortals with their bear hands and hooves. Hell Guards were known to wipe out whole villages by themselves in ancient days. When in battle with a Hell Guard, one should know what the hell they're doing.

Imps: These devilish creatures are one of the most generic terms consorted with demons. Imps have varying pigmentation, but they are easily distinguished because of two (or more) large horns extending from their shoulders, as well as their large teeth, red eyes, and all round evil stature. Imps are legendary for kidnapping women and children and using their bodies as fuel for the Hellish maws of the netherealm. Although this rumour is unsubstantiated (it's not like anyone's ever been to Hell and back), Imps should be avoided at all costs.

Succubi: The Succubi are a very dangerous race of female demons who found ways to enter the minds of men in dream and rape them. In their spirit form, the Succubi thrive on chaos, and change, and so they are out to change everything they come across. However, Succubus sorceresses cast a series of spells which granted them entrance to the real world, where they still thrive on chaos. They resemble normal human women, but with fluorescent hair, sheet black eyes, wings sprouting from their backs, and wings or horns on their heads. Succubi cannot reproduce, but are born from a being whose identity is so secret, his name is only mentioned by Succubi to Succubi in the presence of other Succubi.

Gallü: The Gallü demons, in their true form, are small balls of red light which will burn through flesh and most substances. However, the Gallü have one other form, which is man. They can turn into an enormously strong human male, usually equipped with a large sword or other melee weapon. In ancient days, they would wait on the side of roads in this form and challenge any traveler who passed by. They live for the thrill of sport, and very few survived encounters with them. They are native to Babylon but are known to travel. Nowadays, they have become scarce, and are rarely seen at all, in any form.

Alü: These gigantic demons were known throughout Babylon and feared by all. The Alü demons stand over twenty feet tall, with enormous bulk, which they were famed for using to crush their enemies with. Alü had an insatiable thirst for water, and would drink whole rivers, leaving villages dehydrated, and Naiads dead. However, Alü are extremely stupid, and easy to defeat. They have dozens of spikes on their backs, and four horns sprout from their head. They have hooved feet and blood-red fur on their body.

Rumors: These demons are where the word "rumour" came from. The female Rumor has pale grey skin, with dark hair, yellow eyes, and usually a veil over her mouth to disguise her black tongue. Rumors were famed in Greece for telling everyone stories about everyone's friends and families. They were always bad stories (adultery, murder, Pokémon fandom, etc.) but only the Rumor who told them knew whether or not they were true. Although they rarely attack, the damage they do with words can sometimes be far greater.

Tch'e-yeou: The odd-looking Tch'e-yeou demons had the basic body of a man, but with hooved feet, four arms, the bottom pair of which had two forearms each, two pairs of eyes, a copper head, with an iron forehead, which they were famous for using to head-butt people. Legend has it that, at the dawn of any civilization on Earth, the Tch'e-yeou demons invented weapons. They are native to Japan, and usually seen with many of the weapons they are credited with inventing. I mean, they have six hands to hold them with, after all.

Nidhoggs: As Odin recalls, shortly after he established the Norse realms, the Nighoggs arrived. These demons are unique in that they have two genders. They are usually quite large, at about eight feet, and resemble, for the most part, snakes with a human-like head and arms. The Nidhoggs were apparently sent to close the realm guard between the Nordic realms. So, the main goal of the serpent demons has been attacking Yggdrasil since as far back as Odin cares to remember. A special cadre of Valkyries, called the Virgin Loche, is assigned to guard the tree, and are frequently aided by their friends in Jötunheim. Of course, attacking Yggdrasil isn't the only thing Nidhoggs do. They sometimes go around giving apples to people.

Incubi: These are male Succubi, created by the same being. However, an Incubus can reproduce with their dream rapes, but only with a mortal mother. The mother usually gives birth to a different kind of demon, in most cases a Mhuir Kil, but very rarely another incubus. The birth process has always killed the mother. Incubi are very similar in looks to Succubi (aside from the gender gaps) but very rarely have flight-capable wings, for some reason.

* Mancubi: Demons of flab and fat are the Mancubi. Broad shoulders and waistsbands, the Mancubi have elephant like legs to support their girth, but their most dangerous arsenal are the iron stumps for hands which shoot out fireballs. Mancubi usually use these to roast their prey before devouring them. A Mancubus has only three teeth and probably the same number of brain cells.

Mhuir Kil: The demons known as Mhuir Kil are cloaked in mystery and subterfuge. They have great magical powers, which they use to make deals with mortals. These deals include such examples as "I'll give you my soul if I can be big and strong for the rest of my life." Of course, the Mhuir Kil fail to mention that now that the soul is theirs, there is no longer a "rest of my life" and the buyers never gets to use their new body. Ironic, n'est pas? Mhuir Kil do have a natural form, but only assume it in the presence of other Mhuir Kil. They usually disguise themselves as humans.

Lamastues (Tengues): These small, hunched Lamastues were known in Babylon for feeding on fetal children from the mother's womb. They look just like human men but have long, hooked claws, and small, unuseable wings from their backs that they usually hide. They also have a proboscis at the back of their mouths that they will sometimes use to ingest brains from their victims, or fluid from the uterus. A Lamastu will first try to seduce the pregnant woman before feeding.

Asuras: The Asian Asuras have no corporeal form, and if they do, no one's ever seen it. The Asuras are the demons who possess people and corrupt their thoughts. In some cases, they can change the form of their host into a variety of creatures to suit their needs. Their motives are sometimes unclear, but they are famed for being the sworn enemy of the Vedic gods. However, this doesn't always appear to be the case, unless they've got some huge mother-of-all plans that is beyond our comprehension.

Koueis: Demonic and bloodthirsty, the Koueis are a monstrous Chinese demon with a hunched stature and skin of green or black. Long hair cover their faces with grotesque deformities and sharp, long teeth. The Koueis have no hands, only massive blades where they should be. It's just as well, as they have no need of hands, and the only thing they really do is chop stuff up. Koueis have a dreaded hatred of all living things, and so seek their undoing at any cost.

Lymnades (Water Demons): Lymnades are very dangerous demons who plague upon the heroism of mortals. Lymnades are very fishlike in appearance. They're bald, scaly, with a green or blue complexion. However, although they have fish-tails, they have a humanoid torso, but still dorsal and ventral fins. Lymnades have select telepathy and mimicking powers. They will imitate precisely the voice of a loved one when a mortal is near the lake, and they will call for help. When the victim approached the edge of the lake, the Lymnade will burst from the surface and drag the victim below the water and drown them. The Lymnades will eat only one arm of the victim, and leave the rest to be found.

Raksavas (Rakshasas): These demons of India, the Raksavas, could assume any form, and represented everything hostile. In natural form, they had elephant tusks sprouting from their mouths, and great bat-like wings from their feet, which allowed them to fly. Raksavas took a more clinical approach to damnation, and used their shape-shifting abilities to take over large organizations and use those positions to corrupt the masses. Even today, many Raksavas are multi-billionaires with a penchant for innocent souls.
