Star Trek Voyager
(Photo from Starlog) In the November 1997 issue the article by Ian Spelling on Ethan Phillips provides some insights into the actor.
"Phillips provided some blink-and-you-missed-it detail work in STAR TREK, First Contact...the actor popped up in one brief scene as the maitre'd of the Holodeck club....'It was kind of nice. It was a good giggle. People really got a kick out of it,' he says. 'It was my idea.'
"'It's a fun little thing to have in the movie and it goes to show you that all the STAR TREK shows are just part of one big whole.'
"It's pointed out to Phillips that he tends to use the word "fun" a lot as he discusses VOYAGER and his involvement with STAR TREK. 'That's one of the words I use,' Ethan Phillips explains. 'Fulfilling and challenge are two more words I use a lot. As I said before, when I have a script where I have something to do, It's certainly fulfilling. It's always a challenge to try to finesse your way through something with style and grace, and that's what I attempt to do. I still enjoy coming to work. It's a great group of people....It's still fun.'"
