Chapter 11

The Council looked grave. Dawit was twisting and turning to escape the horrors of her own memories. Sasah could only ease her pain, but even her advanced techniques were inadequate. Nefra broke the silence with,

“We should tell her.”

“She would never understand.” Sasah said, cradling Dawit’s feverish head.

“She would, if we explained everything. If we left nothing out.”

“Would she ever be able to trust us?”

“I don’t know. It looks like she’s remembering quite a lot. Maybe it’s better if we tell her now.”

“She’s weak enough. Dawit doesn’t need anything else to worry about. If she knew her path. . .”

“Her path she will not know!” Yoda interrupted. “Dangerous she is.”

“She doesn’t know the full extent of her abilities!” Nefra said.  Dawit screamed and burns appeared all over her body. The skin was twisted and blackened, as if it had only happened a minute ago. “Let’s take her to the old medical center immediately!” Nefra shouted. He cradled Dawit gently as he ran down the halls. The medical kits proved little help as the burns opened and puss came out. It was greenish and had a peculiar smell. Then, as if it had never happened, the burns disappeared. Nefra turned to Sasah. Sasah finished his thought by saying,

“I haven’t tried healing her. She’s healing herself.”

“Not know all of her abilities you say?” Yoda asked.

“I haven’t taught her Healing. I’ve only begun to teach her Vision. I had no idea that she knew.”

“Sad this is.”

“Do you believe she will pass her test?” Nefra asked.

“Uncertain is her future.” The council’s eyes rested once more on Dawit. She seamed to be at peace, for now. One by one the council filed out, leaving Dawit alone. Time passed. The morning light came with a voice.

*They’ve abandoned you.* Onxyi said.

*No they haven’t. They’re trying to help me.*

*Naïve as ever. Don’t you see they’re testing you?* His demonic laughter filled her mind. Shutting it out she used the link once again to ask him,

*Testing me on what?*

*How you deal with me. They can’t hear your screams now.*

*I’m not going to scream. I’m not afraid of you.*

*So you say, so you say. Wait until I have you heart’s desire.*

*What is my heart’s desire? You killed anything that I could ever love.*

*Not Obi-Wan. I still own you. Go against my wishes, and he will die.*

*I’m not taking your threats anymore. There’s nothing you can do that will stop me from being a Jedi. Nothing.* Dawit pulled herself away from his invisible grasp.

*I know where he is. He’s in his bed, sleeping. You know what else? My lightsaber is at his throat. Listen carefully and he’ll be breathing next time you see him.* Onxyi said, drawing her back into the link.

*Let me talk to him.*

*And ruin my concentration? Never. Remember, wait to find the weakness* Dawit was slammed back into an old memory. She readied her lightsaber, if Onxyi wanted a fight, he would get it. The humiliation of being. . .

stung by the beam again was too much. In frustration she threw down her lightsaber.

“I’ll never get it!” she cried.

“You need to wait to find the weakness. It will open up when you are concentrating and listening to your inner voice. Patience my young one, patience.”  She used this advice and blocked all the lasers. For once, she had triumphed.

Suddenly panic hit her. How long had she been reminiscing? Obi-Wan could be dead!  She raced down the halls.  Onxyi had found her weakness. He had the advantage. Now she had to find his, but first she had to find Obi-Wan and see if he was alive. She reached his bed. The sheets were rumpled, but it was empty. Was she too late?
