The Avengers, the group called Heroes for Hire and the Fantastic Four watch on tv the interview with the Hornet, commenting about the arriving of a new crime fighter in New York.

Flying over the city, the Hornet find the Human Torch, who menaced him because he have said that we do not have to worry about Spider-Man anymore. The Torch warns him if something happened to Spidey it would be all his responsibility. Peter liked so much the care the Torch have showed for the wall crawler.

On the roof of the Daily Beagle Building, Norman Osborn prepared an welcome reception for the Hornet. Just after his arrive, the Vulture attacked him, blaming him for the Spidey's death and for robbing his avenge against him.

After the Hornet defeated the Vulture in an aerial battle, the vulture realized to the fact that Spider-Man and the Hornet were one and the same, and said it to everybody on the top of the building. Peter's greatest enemy, industrialist Norman Osborn become angry with the news.

This forced Parker's abandonment of his Hornet persona, and preciptated his return as the webspinning wonder we all know and love.

Meanwhile, Ricochet and the deadly Delilah attacked Roughhouse and Bloodscream, usually Wolverine's enemies, in a quest for a clue where to find the Black Tarantula, knowing that they are working for him. Delilah was hurt and his foes escaped.

Knowing their hidden place, Peter Parker battled Roughhouse and Bloodscream, in several of his alternate identities, the Dusk, Ricochet, the Prodigy and the Hornet.

After defeat them, a beaten Bloodscream confessed that they have been contracted to kidnap several women, including Peter's wife, Mary Jane, her friend Shantel and the Tarantula's ex-wife, Marina.

Using a recorder glued to his belly, the Dusk met the Trapster, where he shared a some of the secrets of his life. Suddenly, the Trapster invited the Dusk to make a visit to Norman Osborn in his Manhattan's Upper West Side laboratory facilities.

They met the evil Norman there. Dusk backed Trapster up, while they discussed about the death of Joey Z, made by the Trapster, to frame the Spider-Man. Dusk was recording everything.

The Trapster lose his head and tried to kill Norman Osborn. The Dusk fight against him and defeated him, to avoid the killing. Norman went out and Peter realized that the recorder was broken.

Dusk persuaded the Trapster to confess on tv and to the police that he have killed Joey Z, instead of the Spider-Man, not saing who have ordered to do that.

But realizing that they are playing with his human senses, Prodigy used his spider-sense and changed the tide of the fight in his favor. Jack escaped and he only captured Conundrum, taking him in custody to the police.

Having gotten from Conuncrum the place where he have emprisioned his kidnapped prey, the beautiful Tabriaz, Prodigy went there and save her. In this moment, Jack O'Lantern appeared menacing them, when he was shot by one of the bodyguards of Norman Osborn, who have bursted into the hideout.

The next day, Osborn prepared a cerimony in honor to Prodigy in the Daily Beagle Building. Prodigy surprised everyone with the news about he have found a Spider-Man costume in the Conundrum's hideout. He said: "And I found enough additional evidence there to suggest that it was either Conundrum or Jack O'Lantern who recently beat up Mr. Osborn, disguised as Spider-Man, in order to frame him."

Combined with the Trapster's recent confession, Spider-Man has been cleared, and Peter decided to return to use his Spider-Man disguise.
