The Amazing Spider-Man # 441
The Final Chapter - part 1 of 4

Writer: John Byrne, Penciler: Rafael Kayanan, Inks: Bud LaRosa
Attention! This is the last issue of The Amazing Spider-Man.
Night. Five people were reunited together in the headquarters of Osborn Industries - Norman Osborn, Madame Web, Override, Morris Maxwell and Martha Franklin. They were there to perform that ancient ritual called the Gathering of Five.

Meanwhile, Alison Mongrain and Joe Robertson finally arrived at that well known part of Quens, the home of Peter and Mary Jane, carrying a secret that would change Spidey's life forever. The Molten Man was on their pursue, and he showed up through the sewer system. He remembered that Norman made a surgery in him, and put a device into the back of his head, that is commanding him in attacking these two people.

Like a beacon, the locket used by Alison was atracting the Molten Man. Figuring it out, she threw it away and he destroyed it, relieving himself from Osborn's control.

Mary Jane saw that scenes by the window, got out and met them. Alison said her that May was alive.

Back to the Gathering of Five, Madame Web got the gift of death, Martha got the knowledge, Override got the immortality, Maxwell got the madness and Osborn got the power. Well, now it seemed to be this way.

Spider-Man returned home. Mary Jane told him what Alison have said to her - that May was alive and Osborn was holding her at his hunting lodge. Peter decided to go there imeadiately. Mary Jane understood that it was a new trick and that Osborn was playing with them again. After a brief discussion, Spidey went out, headed to that hunting lodge.

Peter Parker Spider-Man # 97
The Final Chapter - part 2 of 4

Writer: Howard Mackie, Penciler: John Romita Jr., Inks: Scott Hanna
PPSM#97 Norman Osborn wore the Green Goblin's disguise again.

Spider-Man arrived at that hunting lodge. He had to face a lot of traps prepared to him by his worst enemy: trees covered with torns and genetically distorced and dangerous dogs. Finally, close to the house, he found the Green Goblin. They struggled during long minutes, over the trees, in front of the house and, breaking into the house. At that moment, Spidey threw his best punch at his enemy, left him in the ground, covered with web.

Meanwhile, a press conference took place at an exclusive restaurant on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Mary Jane was being re-introduced to the modeling world.

Leaving the Goblin behind, Spider-Man crossed the house in search of May. Finally, he opened a door, entered into the room and was hit by a vase on the head. From the floor, he looked up and saw aunt May, alive, with the same look she had in the past, asking him: "You horrible creature! How did I get here? What do you want from me?"

PERSONAL OPINION: At that moment, all the old readers like me were astonished! Marvel Comics was able to bring aunt May back from the death! I couldn't believe it is happening... We, loyal readers, didn't deserved this!

The Spectacular Spider-Man # 263
The Final Chapter - part 3 of 4

Storytellers: Mackie, Ross e Milgrom
Attention! This is the last issue of The Spectacular Spider-Man.
The Green Goblin bursted into that room before the Spider-Man could get up, beating aunt May, who fainted. They did not went to a brawl, instead they discussed and Norman allowed Spider-Man to go out and took May with him.

Not believing her to be the genuine article, Spidey took now his comatose aunt to Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four, who confirmed she was, indeed, the real May.

The webspinner then rushed to Osborn's New York penthouse, confronting him. Osborn said he had a series of genetic bombs ready to go off, bombs that would reduce everyone in the world to their component DNA, bombs that would be triggered by the removal of small device from his aunt neck - a device that was slowly killing her.

Before Spidey could rush to stop Richards from removing the triggering device, the Goblin attacked him. The battle spread across the city with Osborn apparently destroying the Daily Beagle building in the process, and finally killing the overmatched object of so much of his insane hatred, Spider-Man. He knocked Spider-Man out, threw him from the skies to the ground twice and termimate with him using a pumpkin bomb. Then, the inert body of Peter, unmasked, laid in the Goblins's hands, who yelled: "I did it! After all these years! I did it! I killed Spider-Man!"

PERSONAL OPINION:At that moment, I could not believe in what have happened with Peter in the Goblins's claws, and I was upset thinking about what Marvel Comics have done with my favorite super heroe. But, dear reader, do not waste time and go to the next summary.

Peter Parker Spider-Man # 98
The Final Chapter - part 4 of 4

Writer: Howard Mackie, Penciler: John Romita Jr., Inks: Scott Hanna
Attention! This is the last issue of Peter Parker Spider-Man.
PPSM#98 PPSM#982
It all was Norman's imagination. He was in reality glued tightly by web to the ground, caught by Spider-Man, who is as alive as we all are. (Now we can understand that instead of power, he had gained the gift of madness in that arcane ritual called The Gathering of Five.) The police arrived and took Norman under their custody.

But, the unluck Spidey normally ever was, a pumpkin bomb left in the basement of the Daily Beagle building blew up. And that we had Spidey again holding a building that was about to fall. After long moments of suffering, he was able to use a steel beam to hold it and spent all his webbing in order to prevent the building to fall. Jameson came to him and, instead of thanking for the heroic act, he asked somebody to arrest the web spinner. Spidey gave him his back and desappeared in the dust.

The wall crawler, using his last energies, went to the Fantastic Four's headquarters, in order to avoid Richards to trigger the genetic bombs by removing the device from his aunt's neck. He arrived on time. Knowing about the menace, Reed neutralized the device and, just after this, removed it from aunt May, saving her life and desarming all the genetic bombs.

Shortly, Peter and Mary Jane met aunt May, who stared at them and said: "Peter?"

Later, in an hidden alley, Peter, accompanied by Mary Jane, threw his Spider-Man's disguise into a garbage brass full of fire, and said: "It's over, Mary Jane. Norman... the Green Goblin... is out of my life. Aunt May is back. This (the Spider-Man's disguise) is the only thing that stands between us and some sense of normalcy. Lets get on with our lives." Then, they went away and the disguise was left burning...

PERSONAL OPINION: This is the end of these magazines series. Marvel will start the Spidey life again the next mont, in three books: Amazing Spider-Man # 1, Peter Parker Spider-Man # 1 and Webspinners # 1. I am certain that each Spidey fan is asking himself: "Why?" The answer belongs to the future! We have to be patient and wait... But never give up for our beloved Spider-Man. We ought to stick with him, no matter what the future reserves for our friendly neighbour Spider-Man, here will be the true fans.
