San Jose, California |
I left SPCC after Form 6 to
Northern California for college, kind of unexpectedly. After I graduated from
U.C.Berkeley, I worked in a small biotech company for half a year. Went back to school
afterwards and finally graduated last year from pharmacy school at U.C.S.F. Now working at
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford as an infectious disease pharmacist. Alan
and I got baptized in Easter 1996 and got married in December 1996, after dating for nine
years. Many of you know that we knew each other when we were about eight/nine years old.
We are buying a townhouse in the San Jose area, next to a golf course (You can visit us
and golf!) And we live happily everafter ... :)

The College Years Since
I graduated from SPCC (F.6-HL in 1989), I went to University of Wisconsin - Madison
studying Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor degree). It was a fun 4 years. As you may know,
there was a relatively huge St. Paul's population in Wisconsin, and still is. To name a
few, we had - Wat Sin Chi, "Boxy" Alan Leung, Benny To Yung Ting, Simon Liu Man
How, Daniel Fung King Him, Peggy Lee, Etienne Fung Si Long, Albert Hui Kin Chung, ... etc.
We formed a basketball team called Holly Cows and we pretty much dominated among people
from Hong Kong. Great memory!
Beyond College - Career
I worked at 3 companies since I graduated from college in 1993. The work primarily
evolved around manufacturing / engineering until just over a year ago, I began doing
management consulting work. Thus far the most exciting profession in my career!
Beyond College - Family
I got married with Katherine, whom I met in college, in 1996. Same year, we bought a
house in a suburb of Chicago. For now, we plan to stick around Chicago until past the
millennium. If any of you stop by Chicago, feel free to give us a buzz.
Beyond College - Education
With the desire to change profession from engineering to consulting, I decided to
pursue an MBA. I started the program at the University of Chicago back in 1996 and I'll be
done in mid 1999. Throughout the past two years, I've been doing to school part-time on
weekends while working full-time. It was a very rough yet fulfilling experience.
Future Plan - long term goal
Katherine and I, both of us are consultants, do enjoy the dynamic aspect in consulting.
So we do intend to stick around for a little longer until we truly burn out from the
hectic travel schedule. Our immediate next step, after we both finish our masters, will
consider opportunities in Asia just so we can leverage our cultural background. Starting
our own business is another option under consideration. If we come across interesting
business concepts and partners, we are definitely open for the challenge! |

I have been living in US since
leaving St. Paul's in 1990. Except for the first year where I lived in Seattle, I spent
most of the time in SF Bay Area. After finishing undergrad at Berkeley, I worked for an
environmental firm in San Jose for four years, before I decided that engineering is not
something I want to do for the rest of my career. So, I left California this August and
came here to Philadelphia and began my 2-year MBA program. Short-term plans? I plan to
go back to SF Bay Area after I graduate in May 2000. I don't plan on going back to HK to
work in the near future, but who knows, I may do that a few years down the road. |

I left SPCC after F3 and went to
study in Canada. I received my BASc and MASc in electrical engineering from University of
Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. I spent almost 7 years there. Outside class, I do
lots of things related to the Christian clubs. After graduating, I joined a company in
Toronto called Linkage Software Inc. and worked there for 1 year. I develop programs
related to e-mail servers. The company was bought out by Microsoft a year and a half ago.
Since then, I live in Seattle to work for Bill Gates. Seattle is great in the summer but
too much rain in the winter. Am I married? Not yet... Contact information:

After I graduated from SPCC in
1988, I continued my education in the United States. I attended a high school in San
Francisco for a year while I met my old classmate Etienne Fung. Then I went to UC Berkeley
for my BA in CS and to Stanford for my MS in CS. I had met alot of SPCC folks during my
college studies (basically all SPCCs who are currently living in the Bay Area). It is
really fun to meet them again! :) After that, I started to work full time at Intel
Corporation as a Software Engineer. This is my fifth year now and it is still counting. I
exercise quite a bit after work: tennis, badminton, soccer, bowling,... just to make sure
that I will not need to change sizes every other year :> I also like to take photos,
scenaries are my favorite (until I have found a good subject for portraits ;p)
I am now living in Mountain View, a city in the Silicon Valley. Please drop me an email
or call me up if you are visiting the Bay Area! Keep in touch!

The bay area has been kind to me.
Berkeley is a liberal college town where diversity is celebrated. The transition from HK
to Berkeley has been smoother than I thought. It helps to have old friends around --
Johnny Kwok, Betty Lee and Henry Ma, to name a few. After a few years at Berkeley (or cal
as people here call the university), I graduated with a double major in Geophysics and
Computer Science. I went on to finish a Masters in Computer Science before I left cal. My
first real job in the Silicon Valley is with a start-up called Illustra. Illustra makes a
new kind of database software. The marketing folks calls it "object relational"
but I prefer to think of it as extensibility technology. It was voted number one in
Database Programming & Design magazine's "Database Dozen" list in 1995,
recognizing it as the most influential company in the database marketplace. In the same
year, it was acquired by a major enterprise relational database vendor, Informix, in a
$400 Mil stock swap. (If you're wondering, I got very little out of the deal. Also,
Informix's stock would go through a roller-coaster ride over the next couple of years.) We
spent two years after the merger integrating Illustra's technology into the Informix
product. Suffice it to say, that was quite an experience!
I am still with Informix. Earlier this year, I have decided to make a slight career
change and took on a manager job. It's been a wild year and I'm hanging in there. |
