SpeechesLike most Toastmasters I've written a number of speeches over the years. Here is a selection of some I'm most proud of. Perhaps you can find something that will inspire a speech of your own. Baby Steps I am very proud to present a written copy of my entry in the International Speech Contest for 1997. I placed second at District 3's contest, so this speech is a trophy winning effort. In it, I remind you of two lessons you learned the day you took your first baby steps. Driving Lesson My father taught me to drive. This speech recalls some of the lessons I learned while learning to drive. Not all of the lessons involved the road! Growing Flowers I once had a class on how to grow flowers. The teacher taught me much more than how to make roses bloom in my yard. This is an outline for a speech that teaches the lessons learned while growing flowers. It's The Law Certain laws govern our conduct. These aren't man-made laws, but natural laws. For example, the law of expectations would teach that you will only get what you expect to get from life. This is an outline that looks at three such laws. Making Conversation This is an important skill for all Toastmasters to learn. This speech is an advanced project where I taught the fine art of "Small Talk." Parking on the Driveway This speech takes a look at the English language and it's many foibles. For example, if the teacher taught, why didn't the preacher praught? Sports What sports have you played? What have you learned from your sports? In this speech I share some important lessons from my sports participation. The Door I am very proud to present a written copy of my entry in the International Speech Contest for 1998. I placed 2nd at District 3's contest with this speech, so it is a trophy winning effort. In it, I present an open door to your dreams and tell you how to get through that door. The Music What you say is important; but so is the music behind your words. This is a speech outline that explores the various facets of vocal music. The Revolution We are at the very beginning of the Information Revolution. This, though, is not the first major revolution humanity has endured. This speech explores several previous revolutions and how they impacted humanity. (NOTE: This speech is designed to be a 10 minute presentation. To make it fit a 5-7 minute slot, you'll need to chop it a bit!) Washington's Farewell This is an excerpt from Washington's Farewell to the Nation. I used it as a script for one of my Toastmasters projects. This Document Last Modified on April 26, 1998. |
