"...married William Samuel BAKER on June 29 1881 at her mother's residence near Guntersville, AL. Bill was the son of Andrew Jackson BAKER and Joanna Anna HALL. Bill was a farmer and died of a
heart attack after loading a wagon of corn. He had circulation problems and may well be the forrunner of a medical condition known as "Plebitis" "thick blood". Bill is believed to be Creek and Cherokee Indian. His mother was Hillabee Creek and father was Cherokee. He is buried at Oak Grove Cem. Janie is Catawba (Creek) Indian. She held to the indian tradition of mourning for two months at the foot of Bill's grave. She died Jan 12, 1926 in Guntersville, and was originally buried at the foot of his grave with only a stone marking the grave. Janie lived with her daughter Ulma in Union Grove from 1920 until her death. Bill and Janie had three children born to them, and adopted two KNIGHT children ca 1906 when their neighbor's farm caught fire and only the two KNIGHT boys survived."

On 29 June 1881 when Martha Jane Marinda was 25, she married William Samuel Baker, son of Andrew Jackson Baker (1827-1912) & Joanna Anna Hall (1838-1914), in Guntersville, Marshall Co., AL. Born on 16 March 1856 in Hatchett Creek, Clay, AL. William Samuel died in Guntersville, Marshall Co., AL, on 15 October 1906; he was 50. Buried in Oak Grove Cem.; Oak Grove, AL. Nickname: Bill.

William Samuel BAKER posted $200 bond with father Jackson BAKER to marry
Martha Jane HAYES in 1881. He is found with his dad in 1860 Talladega
Co, AL, and in1880 in Marshall Co. In 1900, he is found in Prec #22,
Marshall Co, AL. He was a farmer and died of a heart attack after
loading a wagon of corn. He had circulation problems. Buried Oak Grove
Cem, AL. Martha Jane is found with her mother beginning 1870 in Marshall
Co. In 1920, she was with daughter Ulma BAKER SNOW in Union Grove.
Martha made application to the Churchill Commission but was rejected due
to the adoption of the Knight boys. The commission had no records of two
sons to Martha and Bill BAKER. She is Catawba Indian.

All three girls are listed with their father in the 1900 enumeration in
Warrenton, Marshall Co, AL. They were Baptist

Buckalew (2613) , daughter of Solomon Parks Buckalew (1462) (about 1836-March 1892) & Mary Elizabeth Mabry (about 1836-28 December 1908), in Residence of Parks Buckelew; Marshall Co., AL. Born on 27 November 1861 in AL. Nancy Selena/Celena (?) died on 10 January 1897; she was 35. Buried in Oak Grove Me. Ch., Horton, Marshall Co., AL. Nickname: Lena.
