The Pearl City High School Band, started in 1976, is headed by Mr. Michael Nakasone
who won the 1995 teacher of the year award for the state of Hawaii. Leading along side
the teacher of the year for 1995 are band directors Mr. Thomas Kamisato and Mr. Kent Sato.
Together the three have led the band to excellence.
Having performed all over the nation, and the world, the band has represented the community,
the state, and the nation and has awed viewers of all types.
The Blue Gray Trip to Alabama is now history! Many thanks to all of the
parents and volunteers out there who helped to make the show a success.

The Marching Band
The internationally acclaimed "Pearl City High School 'Chargers' Marching Band".
The Concert Band
The Pearl City Wind Ensemble I has made numerous appearances and has also given Pearl City a
reputation for excellence. On April 17, 1998, the band performed at the
Music Educators National Convention in Phoenix,
Arizona where it received a standing ovation and 3 curtain calls, an uncommon event at this
prestigeous convention.
The Stage Band
Playing many of the original Big Band songs, the Pearl City Stage Band makes appearances
playing with Hawaii's own professional musicians.
