English 12 Assignments

Daily and Weekly

Week 5

While many of you are making significant progress on your website, some are still having difficulties. In order to help you more efficiently I need to have an accurate web site address for you. Check out the following two pages to see if your address is working properly. If your website did NOT boot up properly, fill out the brief form below accurately.

Your correct Website address, Your real name

  1. Get caught up on your web page! By now you should have a minimum of: 2 pages, links, an image, and your email address. Go to previous assignments to catch up if necessary.
  2. Thursday you will complete an Internet worksheet on Braveheart.
  3. Be sure to complete your regular weekly assignments--2 postings to the Rezlife list from your Yahoo email account orRocketmail account and at least one posting to the Bulletin Board.

Week 6

  1. Add text to both of your web pages if you haven't already done so. Thursday you can bring original photos to scan into your web pages.
  2. This is a week to catch up. Finish minimum requirements for Web Site Progress before going on to other things. The only exception will be if the GeoCities editor is down. Use check list and have it verified before going on the your email and bulletin board work.
Need Help? Sources are closer than you think. Besides the teacher, try the following for Web Page assistance:
    1. Your classmates--those who have already pioneered territory can pass it on
    2. Try the tutorials and aids within this site at:
      Creating Websites
    3. Posting questions to the class bulletin board and/or to the Rezlife list
    4. Email experts like Bill Bercu or Vino Sam
    5. Books on HTML and Creating Web Sites
  3. Since this is week 6, you should now have a MINIMUM of 6 good postings to both the Bulletin Board and 11 postings to the Rezlife list via yourYahoo email or Rocketmail account.

Week 7

  1. Looking for balance at this point. Work both on your web site and on your postings.
  2. See Week 6 assignments for details and links. At this point you should have 7 bulletin board postings and 13 Rezlife postings.
  3. Special Assignment--Pink Floyd/Wizard of Oz observations. You saw it last week; NOW, check out a website devoted to this phenomena and record in your Journal 3 items you find especially interesting that you hadn't observed before: The Dark Side of the Rainbow Instructions, connections, lyrics and more here!

Week 8

  1. Be sure to check out the Bulletin Board for announcements and to see this week's winners for "Cool Developing Warrior Site of the Week"!!(*Note: Use the "Re:" message to check out their websites as well)
  2. For Thursday: Post your original poem to either the Bulletin Board (which is mainly for TCHS classes), or to the Rezlife list from your Yahoo or Rocketmail account.
  3. By now you should have 15 QUALITY posts to the Rezlife list--generic ones don't count for a whole lot. We are looking for literate postings--especially RESPONSES to other people on the list from outside TCHS. It is considered rude to ignore good postings.
  4. Continue developing your web pages. Go on to create a third page if you haven't done so already.

Week 9

  1. Now that you've begun your web site, it's time to work on making it the best it can be. Of course by now you should realize that we are encouraging you to contribute some new knowledge and viewpoints to the WWW. Pick up some good solid advice about what makes an effective web site at Top 10 Web Site Tips.
  2. Two of the biggest mistakes in making web pages concern graphics: One is using so many that it takes "forever" for the page to load up, while the second mistake is using no graphics at all (a sure sign hardly anyone will visit for long or ever come back). For assistance in creating your web pages and for links to neat graphics, animations, and backgrounds go to: Web Site Creation.
  3. Keep everything in balance. Grades are coming out shortly, so I will need to evaluate your computer work as a major part of the grade--both in web site creation and in your public postings to the bulletin board and to Rezlife. While quantity is important for passing grades, QUALITY postings that demonstrate deeper thinking and postings that RESPOND and COMMUNICATE with others get much higher grades. You can check your Rezlife postings at Rezlife Archives.
  4. Wednesday the lab period will be devoted to doing some Shakespearean searching off the Shakespeare Page.
