This bibliography includes books I have found useful (as well as my own) and they are in no particular order of preference. You'll find books on crystal healing (metaphysical), Jyotish astrology and gems, as well as non-healing reference books. Wherever possible, I have given the ISBN for those who want to go out and buy copies. However, if you have problems, e-mail me, and I'll try and help you out.

The Crystal Checklist is a pocket sized book which lists, in alphabetical order, various symptoms, problems and issues and their appropriate healing crystals and gemstones. Also includes a guide to the chakras, methods of cleansing crystals and a chapter on the special qualities of quartz crystals. Paperback, 77 pages plus pages for notes.

This wonderful book has colour photos of hundreds of gemstones, with information on their formation, structure, mining, cutting, polishing and more. I've found it to be a most useful book for identification, and is undoubtedly very useful for jewellers, silversmiths and other craftspeople, as well as crystal healers.

Not just the traditionally-accepted "manual" on how to create gem elixirs, but also includes information on combininations of gem elixirsand flower essences, the principles of chaneling, and advice on how to use the elixirrs. It has clinical case studies and lots more. In my experience a bit complicated and "new age" but still a useful manual.

This large format book includes contributions from people well known in the crystal therapy field: DaEl Walker, Marcel Vogel, Jack Seileman, Carolyn Precourt and many others. Some of the resources listed may be a little out of date (this book must be at least ten years old), but the majority of the writings are informative and sometimes innovative, even now!

I can vouch for the methods described by DaEl Walker in this book, because I was fortunate enough to spend a few days studying with him. The techniques are simple and straightforward, mostly using clear quartz crystals and just a few coloured stones. DaEl Walker is also the author of The Crystal Book but I can't find the publishing details, unfortunately.

Crystal Journey: Travel Guide for the New Shaman

The method that Jane-Ann Dow uses with her clients, is to allow them to pick the stones that will be used in a healing. Here she gives instructions for selecting stones, the layout, breathing and more. She divides the stones into families: for example, Physical Body Stones or Emotional Body Stones. The deck of cards that accompanies the book, sold seperately, is wondrous. One of the best of the recent books on crystals.

A very comprehensive guide and introduction to crystals and gemstones and how to work with them. Raphael has included a very good section on the new age stones which includes many of the quartz crystal formations, as well as a fair number of gemstones. Useful charts and resources as well.

The second volume in Raphael's trilogy has more information on her methodology of crystal healing and an important chapter on personal reponsibility. Also includes the properties of some more crystal formations and gemstones.

Although this is not specifically a crystal healing book, a very substantial section is dedicated to crystals, their astrological correspondence, chakra correspondence, how to use them in healing. I like the way Diane Stein writes and her methods are applicable for men as well as women.
