Project management is probably the toughest of all my my experiences to quantify. Every job I have had over the last 12 years has had some form of project management responsibilities. This could date all the way back to my Navy years when I was scheduling work and preventative maintenance for my department, to ordering and tracking all parts for my division, or when I had to oversee the installation of a paging network for my command. Here are some of the larger project management tasks I have undertaken in my career. I initiated and managed the process of adding Remedy to our customer service department
while with PageNet in Dallas. This included managing the design and implementation
phase of the project working with the end users as well as the CIS personnel who installed
the system. This is my only experience with the implementation process involved with
a CRM software package. However, I am familiar with many other software packages as
I have had to propose design requirements for these software solutions in order to add a
wireless component. These systems varied from standard CRM, ERP or SFA systems such
as Siebel, Unicenter, Remedy, I managed the implementation of multiple new wireless channels while with PageNet in Northern California. This involved the procurement and installation of transmitters as well as the programming of multiple network switches. I was responsible for managing our vendor and landlord relationships including rental contracts. This project also required me to manage multiple technicians who installed the transmitters in Northern California. These projects were very time sensitive as any project delay would cause the degrading of service for our existing customers. I managed the relocation of multiple network switches in Northern California in order to consolidate our network assets into a single teleport. These project required a lot of planning as a duplicate switch had to be installed and programmed in order to minimize the downtime of the network switch. Some of these switches would server 200,000 customers. This project also required me to coordinate the movement of telco lines (T1) from outlining location into the new teleport. These lines had to be moved at the time of the cut over in order to minimize any downtime. During the start up phase at Vast Solutions (called AWIG back then, good call to change the name), I managed many projects, including the design and implementation of certain software solutions. These were out-of-the-box software solutions. In start up mode, every one must wear many hats and I was no different. As I said, project management has been at the core of every job I have ever had.
Even though project management has always been a peripheral job for me, I consider
myself to be a good project manager as I am organized and very analytical. I am
proficient in project management tools like Microsoft Project and Work Breakdown
Structures. |
