The sign of the craftsman or critic
"Two's a bore, Three's company"
Our Virginian ruler is Mercury, the planet nearest to the Sun. It dances around our star, gathering info and translating it to the rest of the system. Mercury represents the capacity to understand the desires of self-will and to transform these into positive action. It's the planet of the mind and the power of communication. Through Mercury we develop an ability to think, write, speak, observe and dance. Mercury, therefore, colours every dancer's attitude and vision of the world, as well as their capacity to express their inner responses. For our virgin Kings and Queens, these potentialities are, in a major way, conveyed through music and dance.
Although this planet's position in the horoscope indicates the power to communicate thoughts and perceptions to the world, intelligence is something deeper. Intelligence is distributed throughout all the planets. It is the relationship of the planets to each other that truly describes what we call intelligence. Mercury rules speaking, language, mathematics, draft and design, students, messengers, young people, offices, teachers and pursuits where the mind of man has wings. In particular, this Mercurial power plays a dominant roll in the total being of the Virgo soul.
Dancers born under the sign of Virgo are generally practical. They believe in doing things thoroughly; there is nothing slipshod or haphazard about the way they perform. Give a Virgoalonian a technique or an element of dancing to practise and you can rest assured there will be absolute commitment, dedication without wavering or wondering… "should I", or "I don't feel like it now". They are maniacs for precision and method.
The male and female born under this sixth sign of the Zodiac respect common sense and try to be rational in their approach to tasks or problems. They have excellent critical abilities; know how to analyze things and are seldom fooled by superficialities, though they tend to be a bit sharp in making criticisms, which often offends a good friend or acquaintance and leads to considerable social discord. Mostly, they feel that they haven't done anything wrong when crunching another earthling, but the cultivated Virgo knows and adheres to the art of tactfulness.
The Virgo man or woman likes to deal with life on a practical level and very seldom has the urge to look into the mystical side of existence. Some Virgos are very talented in artistic matters. Others are great readers. They have a deep appreciation for the uncomplicated things of life. On the whole, the Virgo person is even-tempered; does not allow him-/herself to become angry easily. They take the bitter with the sweet.
Once our virgin queen of pure heart and soul has accepted a love as true and ideal, the purity of her own concept of the relationship reigns supreme over all. She's the one woman in the zodiac who can be deadly practical and divinely romantic at the same time. That situation of the love affair beside some faraway ocean may seem casual and immoral on the surface.
Actually, it's a predictable example of a Virginian behaving true to character when caught in a difficult decision. She'll suffer agonies of embarrassment over the condemnation of society in such an affair, but that won't alter her course of action any more than it will alter the purity of her motivation. It's a perfect example of the firm practicality of Virgo's earth element, blended with the mental Mercury. There's a white hot heat to Virgo love, and once on fire, can put the passions of other Sun signs to shame by its very intensity. Igniting it may take some time, however, she's not as pure as the sign "V" suggests.
The fiery, physical aspect of love may be somewhat subdued in the typical Virgo female, but there's an enigmatic, quiet, waiting quality in this woman, and "passion of the spirit" is a most satisfactory substitute to men who prefer the delicacy of romance.
LOVE: is chaotic. Affections are eruptive, emotions sincere. This one is responsive to love, mesmerised by love, bowled over by passion. It's well-intentioned, has character, but is caught in the switches; can't say "No" to old love, can't say "No" to new love. There is ongoing turmoil, misplaced loyalty - confusion. This one can't stop dancing.
PASSION: is tumultuous. Repressed energies are released. It serves to indulge, to invigorate, to cherish. There is a glut. This one transmits nervous energy. Nothing is undone, nothing withheld. it's all kinky - outlandish. Craves for continuity but can't achieve it. Physical exchange is pursuit of fulfilment. This combination is unstable, play it short-term. Can get hurt.
Dance: The motion is slink and smooth. Thrives on variation and vigour. Glides with authentic expression and pizzazz. This pair exhilarates, is scintillating, understands unison of style and tempo. There is control and perfect balance, a display of rhythm, harmony and pure passion. This one understands, has resilience, endurance, syncopation and whip. Exudes happiness and joy, knows self-expression - promises eternal bliss… a DANCE! a PRANCE! a DANCE!
To our virgin fellows we say, "give vent to your inner purity and strength. Let Mercury shine its ever, loving light on you… have a stylish time prancing another year away with a hop, flick, slide and a kick"… Happy! Happy! You're getting older. And remember, the energy pumped out from dancing is put back into the soul many-fold.
